We've "found" about 5 or 6 (Crameri, Melksham, Hardie, Hepp, Hibberd, Bellie) this year who could comfortably be in the 22 every week next year.

Pleasingly, a lot of them are in our weaker areas (smaller defenders, midfielders), too.

Plus Jetta & Reimers have kicked on a step as well.
Player wise, very solid year.

.........and Hocking. Funny how the "H" putsch has done so well this year. :p

yep there were plenty of mistakes throughout the game & many had me shaking my head, however only one left me dumbfounded

as a Stants supporter I want & we need him in the side each week, but just imagine the fallout if the Cats had sneaked a win after that brain fade, I hate to think

I'm not trying to defend Stanton's decision/execution (not sure which was the problem tbh. If he'd hit Crameri, it was a certain goal. If he had a shot, he may have missed) because one way or another, he ****ed up.

My argument is that when Stanton ****s up, as he does every week, he gets hanged for it. When most other players (not all) **** up, as they do every week, it tends to get overlooked, from Heppell up to Fletcher on the experience scale.

Yeah! not fair.

Would the Crameri mark have even been paid? It looked like an incredibly short pass. Either way he make the wrong decision.

For whatever reason, Stanton's mistakes seem more noticeable than other players. My girlfriend, who can probably name about 3 Essendon players, watched the game on Saturday with me and commented 'He stuffs up a lot, doesn't he?'. That's just the opinion of someone with no emotional connection to the team, she doesn't even know his name, but she's watched most of the games this year and Stanton's mistakes just seem to stand out.

One area that Brent consistnetly makes mistakes on is kicking into the man on the mark/having kicks smothered. Errors like that stand out a little more because they're elementary things which can typically be easily changed but for some unknown reason he hasn't been able to.

This is a toast Brent Stanton thread, anyone looking to pay out on Stants start your own thread and leave this one be.

Loved his game against the Cats, played with real heart.

Are you serious? Stants was excellent on Saturday night.

Yaco, you are fast becoming the new Kelvin!

Not really. Yaco lives o/s and still attends more games than Kelvin.

Funny how no one mentions Jetta didn't take the shot on goal either. Kind of proves my point from before.

Huh? The biggest and most consistant criticism of Jetta is that he dishes off shots that he should be taking.

Heppell is a kid.

Fletcher makes glaring errors every week? Don't think so, mate. Fletcher is probably the one guy on our team that you can rely on not to make bad blunders each week.

Maybe that is why people don't make a fuss when Fletch makes an error.

My post was in reference to the toast thread becoming a roast thread.

Attended 8 games in the last 2 years - And 7 games for Bendigo - 15 chances to see Essendon players live - Good effort.:thumbsu:

Of course we could limit the forum to posters who only live in melbourne - who have a regular opportunity to see games live - seeing that some posters live interstate or abroad.:(

I was directing at your negativity, not your location.

Interesting to hear Hirdy say on the fifth quarter that Stanton was playing with a cracked shoulder bone earlier in the year when he was booed. Also mentioned that the club had recieved alot of e-mails in support of him.

I'll admit I've doubted him but we are starting to see the benefits of Stanton in a good midfield. Stants off the leash is a delicious thought - Zaka, Watson, Hepp standing up all takes the pressure off Stants. This is what makes a good midfield - not being able to cover all.

Kicked ass and took names. Great to see him among our absolute best in a win. (Again, arguably).

The haters can get stuffed. I mean, Stants was awful in the Dreamtime game, and I was more than happy for people to get stuck into him then, since it was a nightmare. But when the guy comes out and plays like that and just bloody well gets stuck in, then he should be lauded and applauded.

Continual top 5 in the b& f . Frequent brownlow vote getter. The match committee love him (sheedy led, knights led, hird led) and yet we still have the stubborn pricks who obviously have N.F.I
Put your ****ing hands up you clowns and apologise. I`d have a heap more respect if one of you had the nuts to admit it.

Booooo Stanton... Doing it right?

"99% of Bomber fans love Stants", shit well an uneven amount of the other 1% seem to be on here.

Great game from Brent tonight, any haters going to stand up and admit it?

Yep. I will.
Indeed a great performance from the #5 tonight. His intent in recent times is the most refreshing thing from my POV.
I think the negative press really got to him and he has responded in the best way possible. The coach really backs him in and I LOVE that
I'm not totally convinced, but I am warming to him after such a long time.
The cracked shoulder thing is irrelevant. Once you cross the white line, you are 100% good to go IMO.
But, good game from Stants tonight. Lets keep it going!

FFS.. it was against RICHMOND

Lets see what he does against Ade at AAMI and then against Carltoon and the Pies.

Be looking forward to bumping this pathetic Stanton love-fest of a thread..
