Having a great 4 week stretch. Not a physically tough player but runs hard all day. Once he stops second guessing himself, he'll turn a months worth of good performances in half a season's worth and so forth.

Yep, I've got 4 or 5 kids in the U12s team I coach that are physically tougher.

FFS.. it was against RICHMOND you peanuts:rolleyes:

Lets see what he does against Ade at AAMI and then against Carltoon and the Pies.

Be looking forward to bumping this pathetic Stanton love-fest of a thread..

Why would you be looking forward to an Essendon player playing poorly?

Go and support Richmond.

Interesting to hear Hirdy say on the fifth quarter that Stanton was playing with a cracked shoulder bone earlier in the year when he was booed. Also mentioned that the club had recieved alot of e-mails in support of him.

Hairline fracture of the shoulder blade i believe, I dont think its as serious as some people would like to believe. I dont know if its the reason he squibbed a marking contest in the middle of the 3rd qtr but.

**** off and support Richmond.

Support Richmond..wtf are u talking about?

I'm not looking forward to 'Stants' playing poorly. I'm saying lets not throw a ####ing party when Brent plays a blinder against a side that's in shocking ,bad form.

This is why this board has gone to shit. Just a bunch of sheep all tapping away, holding hands clapping and cheering and agreeing with each other and if someone has a different view......well look out! You might get an aggressive reply from the Essendon board enforcer...the great Ben 'the Famous DT'er' Gooner.

I've seen enough football in my life to know what a soft player looks like.

You blokes are blind. When the time comes to take the hard path in a contest, Stanton can't pass the test.

Even Mark Bolton had more guts than B.S..less talent, but more guts.

So either can't understand basic syntax and grammar, or someone wrote one of those posts with your account and didn't tell you. I'm inclined to think the former, personally.

Geelong were 13-0 when we played them. This thread was created after Stanton played an excellent game against them.

I'll say what I want about Stanton.

Say whatever you like. Your opinion is your opinion, my opinion is mine. You're not like brady05 who's just a troll.

What goes beyond opinion, what made me post in the first place, is you are actively barracking against your own player. Richmond-esque.

I've seen enough football in my life to know what a soft player looks like.

Do me a favour. Go to this link click on "Free Kick" under Choose Events, then click on the third West Coast free kick in the second quarter (38:33 minutes, to Darren Glass). Then, if your attention span can last that long, watch the next two minutes.

Then say "When the time comes to take the hard path in a contest, Stanton can't pass the test" with a straight face.

This is the reason that supporters like yourself, except Victorian, booed Stanton. Because he dared to show a lot more courage for the red and black than you or they ever did or ever will.

You are entitled to your opinion but I ask you to not let past form cloud your judgment on current form. I haven't been one to defend Stanton in the past but in at least the last 2 games he has put his body on the line and his head over the ball - he has stepped up in Watson's absence.

Richmond are not a shocking side though I admit they can play shocking football - so too can Essendon - but if you're going to question Stanton's game simply because of the opposition he played against then you need only look to the game before against the then unbeaten ladder leaders - and one brain fade when he's absolutely rooted from working his arse off for four quarters doesn't make a bad game.

My 2 cents. Time to move on to next week now.

Stanton did shirk one contest last night when it was his turn to go.

Think it was in the 3rd. He should have gone back with the flight but instead he stopped and let the forward take an easy mark. Just outside 50 iirc.

If it were Hocking or Howlett they would have gone back and got smashed.

If we are to have an impact and make finals we need stanton to play well like he has the last few weeks. Along with a in form Watson and a few of our gun young mids we could match it with the other top 8 teams.

Hopefully gumbleton gets a game soon and fits in well

He is carrying an injury as well what a gun:)

Loving his return to form. I've been an unashamed Stanton fan throughout, this recent form is the reason why. He displayed this earlier in his career but, along with Watson, having to carry a poor midfield for the last couple of seasons did him no favours.

The Stanton haters are always gonna hate, many will have their opinion fluctuate according to his form, but it is at least refreshing to hear many saying that whilst they've been knockers they can at least recognise him playing well at present.

What was? This thread?

This thread was created after the GEELONG game, silly.

Yeah for sure, but let's also remember he's been great against Hawthorn and Carlton already this year.

But of course you don't post about those games.

Why's it pathetic?

I remember during my early years on this board, you and I used to have it out over the number #24.

Three or four years on, you're sill not the biggest fan obviously, but the fact that you're saying he's improved on his weaknesses (hitting the contest, defensive running etc), says a lot to me.

I'll be watching the game again today and will watch out for it.

Let's look at the broader picture here. We all have our own opinion here and have every right to express it. But when you come on strong with aggressive asinine statements like the fact you coach an underage team and 4 kids play harder than an AFL player, then you are inviting respondents to reply in a similar aggressive manner and call you a genital cranium for your stupid comments.

I saw that incident. He did shirk it. But as I have stressed on many occaisons, I am yet to see a player get 20+ touches in a league game and not make a mistake.

He was our best player on the night. 13 tackles is huge, especially for someone who has had a busted shoulder.

I wouldn't let Shane hird near my kid. Obviously doesn't know football. Would be negative influence on kids development by the sounds of things.

Can you let us know which club, so we know to take our kids elsewhere?

Yeah, that I'm a good bloke! :p

In all seriousness though, he started the year extremely well, I was very impressed but from the Collingwood game up until about a month ago he was ordinary and I was getting pretty frustrated with him, thought he could only play that well for a couple months and then resort back to the same old Stanton (I'm obviously including NAB form)... unbeknownst to me he had a crack in his shoulder - Lloydy on SEN this morning. Now, I know a lot of players play injured but to me, in retrospect, he was too sore to put his body on the line as he has done since he's recovered.

It doesn't come naturally to him like Hocking et al but it's the fact he'll still do it that has me so impressed with him and I have changed my opinion on him to a degree.
