Brenton Sanderson - Assistant Coach?

Would be some replacement for Wellman.

It is understood Melbourne has expressed some interest in Sanderson as the Demons are looking for a back-line coach to replace Sean Wellman, who has joined Essendon.

Would be nice, I think it would be good for us to start throwing our weight around a little bit. I want to become the sort of club that everybody wants to join, not the sort of club that gets a couple of lines in an article because we have a vacancy. Don't know too much about Sanderson personally, but I assume involvement with such a successful team can only be a good thing.

Wouldn't be a bad pickup. He would have to have at least the credentials of Wellman, if not better. He has been part of a very powerful era and might help to instil a ruthlessness in our team that has been sorely lacking for a long time.

He might also be a good long term candidate for future senior coach if Bailey's tenure comes to an end.

Would be a very good pickup, considering the club he just left has won two premierships in the last 4 years and i'm not sure if he was an assistant coach at Port when they won.He has also played over 200 games of AFL mostly on the HBF, so he has some sort of idea about the backline.

I think it might all depend on what sort of dollars he is commanding but i think he would be a good asset.

I don't care what $$$ he is commanding, sign him up right now! Schwab has said with the Debt now erased, the club will look at spending more coin on the football department. Sanderson has come straight out of a very successful era at Geelong, and add Viney to the mix, we will be on a winner for sure.

I'm not too sure who else is around? Laidley? Choco? Probably be asking too much and probably wouldn't want to be just a defensive coach. Sanderson to me is a perfect fit.

In addition to the fact that he's coming from a successful side with a winning culture, he would also be a great fit for us because Geelong played with a similar gameplan to that of Melbourne.

In that sense, he could definitely assist in taking our fast-moving, high risk approach to the game to the next level.

Agreed. I dont care what he demands, but the club might.
We dont know what his asking salary is either. He might also be asking for a salary the same as what Baileys on?? I don't know what AFL coaches get so i cant really comment. Thats for the board and Financial department to figure out.

But like i said earlier he would be a great asset.

The stuff linking him to Collingwood in 2012 worries me a bit. I dont really want someone who is only passing time until he can go onto the next job thats allready lined up. I'm sure he's a professional, and ppl change jobs/clubs all the time, but when someone knows theyre leaving before theyve even started......

as long as he's up front about it, but it doesnt really seem to fit in with the club culture weve developed.

wouldnt mind him. Apart from the Essendon crew there wont be a lot of people to want to leave melbourne in the coming years.

Essendon crew steals a premiership coach (which i think could have de-railed g-towns attempts at another flag) thus they are exempt from ruling.

Sign him up! He's supposed to be a fantastic coach, recommended by Mark Thompson himself.

We're building quite a formidable coaching squad....

If he is intending to go to the Pies in 2012 then no thanks, but if we can sign him up for a few years then YES PLEASE! We need to build a culture of success, and adding coaches like Viney and Sanderson who have been apart of GF winning teams, and from all reports both played very big roles, then that's a great start.

Would also be great to finally attract a big name to the club, rather than us usually being knocked back.
