Seriously, when will Neil Craig actually give in and give the guy a rest? He has been sup bar all season, especially the last month. He is having absolutely no impact, so we might as well have someone who is fit and can run out a full game. Burton is averaging 10.8 possessions per game this season, and is averaging less than a goal a game. Simply not good enough.

Craigy, for crying out loud, give him a few weeks off. Playing him is serving NO purpose!

Couldnt agree more. When we start getting players back he has to be the first to go. Time for a rest and hopefully he can come back and recapture last years form.

Also for what it's worth Perrie played a great game tonight. Bocky on the other hand...just doesn't look right. Is he carrying an injury as well?
I don’t get this, I seriously don’t. What is wrong with this board tonight, has everyone had a few too many?

Perrie was extremely average; I don’t care what the stats suggest. Did he even kick a goal? Sure he was the “lead up forward” for most of the night, but he had very little impact. Bock on the other hand kicked 2 goals and could have kicked more if the delivery was a little better, and took some nice contested marks. A step forward for Bock tonight as far as I’m concerned.

I'd rather play him to get the match fitness, knowing what he will be able to offer later in the year, than leave him out and have to start from square one getting him match fit again.
Mate, it is achieving NOTHING playing Burton. His health is not improving and he looks less mobile as each week passes. He is training less and less, and every week he is a chance to be a late withdrawal. Give him some time of the sidelines.

I agree too, Burton's body is obviously having problems, forget about match practice...Give him a week or two to get his body right, with Reilly probably able to come in next week.

I thought the majority of the forwards tonight were average besides Welshy. Perrie no effect and Bock was pretty average too I thought.

The Bird admitted during the week that he needs a couple of weeks off to get his knee right.

As soon as they get a few players back.....the intention is for him to have a break......possibly around the mid season break

Gee, you're being harsh on Perrie, Drummond.

I thought he played his role well leading right up the ground either offering an option or creating space for Welsh behind him.

I can't believe for one moment that Neil Craig would be anything but happy with Perrie tonight - a damn good team game IMO.

As for Burton, yes he's been carrying injury, but he was starting to come good last week. The gastro would have laid him a bit lower than he obviously thought, but he'll be over that next and I would expect him to start making bigger contributions week by week.

Please don't say you want him dropped for Pfeiffer. :thumbsd:

Our forwards and forward structure in the second quarter fell away. It was not flash except for much of the first quarter. We need to isloate our forwards more and we need to crumb the ball better from contested plays.

Lets get our forwards moving and leading to different parts of the ground.

Welshy was our best forward tonight. Bock OK in the third quarter but scheissenhausen in the first half.

Perrie's kicking for goal at best a hit and miss affair - but he did work hard.

Douglas did a few nice things but still too many mistakes.

Vince not enough effective crumbing for my liking.

Burton no influence on the game again

So you would have preferred the half fit, dodgy kneed, gastro infected Burton tonight instead of Pfeiffer? Pfeiffer wouldn’t have won the game for the Crows, probably would have spent most of the game on the bench, but I struggle to comprehend how he would have been a worse option than Burton who was barely on himself but when he was he couldn’t get near the football.

oh FFS, is there any point in time you have ever liked anything sir neil has done drumm?

he's been down for a few weeks, yes, but he has been carrying a few injuries, and he is just starting to come good. give him 2 more weeks and he'll be back, i guarantee it!

Time to rest the Birdman. Burton is one of the few genuine match winners on our list. Let's hope we don't make the same mistake we made with Macca last year when we carried him into finals injured when he should have been rested earlier in the year.

See this is where your posts become pathetic to say the least.

You carried on like a pork chop when Jericho got selected on the back of his below average, 6 possesion game. Yet you would have had no problem of brining in Pfeiffer after his 9 possesions effort

And then you wonder why people have a crack. Its because you would bag anyone in the crows side if your Norwood lover boys would get a sniff.

Sure Burton didn't need to be played and he seriously does need a rest but the fact that the club is selecting Burton with two dodgy knees and coming off gastro the day before instead of Pfeiffer tells us more about where Pfeiffer is at.

Sometimes being realistic and fully understanding the circumstances wouldn't do you any harm ;)

We get players back this week, so I see no reason to wait to mid-season to give Burton a break. I agree with Drummond that there is no point playing Burton in his current condition. Though I would have played Campbell over Pfeiffer (we need a crumber).

If I were the selectors this week:

In: Reilly, Johncock, McGregor
Out: Burton (inj), Vince, Stevens

Burton is far to valuable matchwinner to play at below-par now we have some depth.

One word answer, did you see the way they used Pfeiffer in his 9 possession game last Friday night? For some reason he was pretty much used as a decoy the entire night, his role was to play wide of the play. He was closer to the boundary line than the boundary umpire. Sure he could have had more of an influence, but his role wasn’t really going to allow him to have 20 possessions.

I’d say Neil Craig being ridiculously stubborn has more to do with the fact the severely underdone Burton played ahead of Pfeiffer.

If Roo, Stiffy, Porp and Reilly are all fit this week:

In: Reilly, Stiffy, Porp.
OUT: Vince ( really struggling at this level), Jericho, Burton ( inj)

I would give Roo another weeks rest. I would like to see Bock return to CHB as he is really struggling in the forward line IMO. However, Stevo doesn't deserve to be dropped after a few costly clangers. He was one of our best against Brisbane.

Our forward line is still a major concern. I hope Maric plays well for the next couple of weeks because I would love to try out Griff mostly up forward.

I would like to see Pfeiffer get a game too but with so many returning from injury, I can't see it happening in the near future. And let's be honest, his SANFL form has been hardly ground breaking.

The forward line is struggling. Hence I would play Kenny at FF & with Stiffy & Reilly back, we can rotate our midfielder/Stiffy/Macca as much needed crumbers.

Bock doesn't look comfortable up forward & is a far better option in the backline than Stevens.

No I didn't see the game but 9 possesions is 9 possesion which ever way you look at it. His 9 possesion were not much better than Jericho's 6 despite what you want to believe.

I would love to see him get a game but FFS stop rubbishing others to put your Norwood lover boys up on a pedestal. It has nothing to do with Craig's stubborness and everything to do with where Pfeiffer stands at the moment. He is a great prospect but seriously dude, if they are prepared to pick a half fit Burton over Pfeiffer, that tells us that at present, he isn't thought of as highly as you make him out.

Fact is, if we had more player to choose from, Pfeiffer wouldn't even make the emergency list and some players in the team wouldn't even be getting a game.

What game did you watch Drummond?? Because the game I watched, Perrie worked extremely hard. Worked up the ground, took a truck load of marks and set us up on numerous occasions. Be nice if he kicked a few more goals but he did really well i thought. Bock was ordinary for the best part of the game but redeemed himself in the final quarter. Welsh was his inconsistantly brilliant self. Burton definitely needs to rest. No room for Pfeiffer once we bring back Porps, Bode and Stiffy. He will just have to wait his damned turn!;)

Well put Jenny 61,no need to add to that thanks.

Yes, I concur, I also thought Perrie played his role in a terrific fashion, well done Sarge. Not sure if I enjoyed Knightsy learning his goal-kicking style, though.

Sorry mate, what's the opposite of "spot on" ? If anyone's in a position to assess players from close-up it's the coaching team ? 4th hand I gather Craigy is dead set red hot on analysis of coaching and player performances and bidirectional feedback.
