I voted no,

Don't mind him playing up there when needed but i would rather have Brett playing as a floating forward/wingman because if he was our permanent FF would that not be a waste of one of his main attributes in his ability to run opponents into the ground with his endless reserves of stamina ??
Agree with noddy. Would play Burton as a (goal-kicking) wingman, with spells up froward as required.

Don't agree. Anything Burton does is at Welsh's expense.
I think thats crap because they are different type of player and are generally work well together, something that Carey and Perrie don't do.

Welshy is best when he is given the freedom to roam the forward line where he will chase and tackle when the opposition has the ball and will kick you a couple of goals every game.

Burton at FF would complement Welsh rather than take away something from him.

If he's gunna play AFL then FF is the oly position thet he can get away with being so bloody unaccountable (team wise i mean).
if burton and edwards switched last night i recon there would have been at least 4 more entries into the 50, and maybe a goal or 2,,,,,,, those little differances always make a big differance!! aspecially early on.

Don't say that. Thats very unfair, he goes out kick chasing get the possesions, burns them at least 70% of the time and we will give him a pat on the back for that:rolleyes: Hell he will play 2-3 very good games on the wing for the entire year and we are going to say he is the best wingman in the comp.

IMHO, Burton on the wing is more of a liability. yes he gets the footy but he burns it and his opponent will have a field day.

What do Longmuir, Ling and murphy have in common?????? They all had field days out against Burton.

For all those that say he should be played on the wing, I just have one quastion for you, If Leigh Matthews was a coach of the Adelaide Crows where would he play Burton, wing or forward line??????

It's 2-0 in favour of Burton playing at FF. :D

Reason: Will kick 50+ goals from FF and overall the balance of the side is stonger.
IMO if the AFC hierarchy can't see this then they are blind, or don't want to admit it a la normal Gary Ayres.

who are you quoting stiffy?
btw if barney was coaching us i dont think burton would get a game anywhere outside of the 50metere line. and rightfully so, ff is his spot just so he could run the full backs around and create real space! let alone the flying stuff

The problem is he showed last night he is not a smart forwrd either. When Carey had his man beaten in the goal square, instead of Burton leading his man away from the contest, he went to the contest, and allowed his man to spoil Carey.
As I said on another thread, his lack of periphial vision, teamwork, sheperding, and tackling, is a real liability if he is not getting mass amounts of ball.
Would love to see him sheperd an opposition player for a team-mate oneday, or lay a solid Matner type tackle.
But to his credit he does give 100% every week, which is more than can be said for some players.

A potential captain - no-way.
Trade bait - real possibility.
