Cotchin, Deledio, Martin.

Three genuine A-Graders that could easily match any top shelf midfield in the AFL at their best.

Plus with support of other quality mids such as Foley and Conca, the future is extremely bright :D

I love this bloke, great player - seriously underrated. If I was brett I'd seriously take this as a kick in the guts that he should be questioned about playing in the midfield when compared to younger players in Martin and Cotchin.

He's been playing a role - not half back pissing away talent.

HUN - Delidio set to return to midfield

We all thought it, Dimma has confirmed it. Delidio to play back through the middle. Delidio has requested this.
You ****ing beauty.:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

RICHMOND star Brett Deledio will return to the midfield next year after several seasons playing across the half-back line.

Coach Damien Hardwick said the recruitment of a number of quality ball users meant Deledio, 24, would get his wish to play in the middle.

"With the players who we've brought in - with the addition of Steven Morris, Brandon Ellis has come in there and we've got Bachar Houli and Matty Dea - we probably think Brett will play more midfield next year than he has previously," Hardwick said yesterday at the Richmond training camp in Tucson, Arizona.

"But the challenge is well and truly there. He would like to play midfield, and he's going to get his opportunity, but he needs to show that he's capable of playing with Dustin Martin, Trent Cotchin, Nathan Foley and the players we've got in there.

Struggling to contain my excitement, it's going to be difficult not to get on the finals bandwagon next season :p

Re: HUN - Delidio set to return to midfield

Deledio, Martin and Cotchin alternating between midfield and forward line. Foley to take another step up to reach AA form again. Conca and Helbig to get bigger and stronger. Arnot, Houli and Ellis to add nice depth and Jacko to continue to improve his composure, field kicking and leadership(just stop getting reported)

Nah I'm confident he can be part of our 22 :D
I squeezed him out of the 22 after the 2010 season, but I honestly thought he looked more composed with the ball in 2011 and I don't think he sprayed a single kick either. He's back in the 22 for me, while Tuck and Grigg can wait at Coburg in case of an injury :p

Except when shooting for goal and trying to pass
other than that his kicking was good

One if his biggest problems last year was trying to break tackles without even considering disposing of the ball. Numerous times he would try to bulldoze thru 2 or 3 opposition players and then look at the umpire for the free when tackled, has to be better than that!

This is great news. We now have three genuine goal-kicking mids who are all strong through the core and hard to tackle. It should be the goal of all three of Martin, Cotchin and Deledio to average 4-5 tackles a game this year. If they can do that, to go with their 20 odd goals each we are in a very good place.

There was one against Gold Coast where he thought there was a free kick or no advantage just before he got the ball and he held onto it on purpose and he was penalised for holding the ball. That was one that stood out but wasn't one you could blame him for completely. I'm glad he's taking on the opposition though and playing with more confidence. He's relaxing with the ball and actually doing some clever things

The only pass that I can remember that was cut off was the one against Carlton late in the season. There was one time against Geelong where he tried to take on a player and was caught holding the ball. Otherwise I was happy with mostly everything else. He missed a number of goals but none were really easy from what I remember. Mainly long shots or difficult shots from the boundary. He mainly kicked the easier ones though which he would have missed in previous seasons. Dunno how anyone hasn't noticed these improvements. I dunno how anyone could think he was better in 2009 and 2010. He sprayed kicks on the full, missed sitters for goal, got caught holding the ball a few times in those years. 2011 we barely saw this. The only thing that held him back a bit in 2011 was being in rehab for 3 months of the preseason but it didn't seem to interrupt his season, maybe just holding back his fitness. He'll be fitter this year if he doesn't do him hammy in the preseason again. At 25 and improving, his size and experience will be important from now on. I'm hoping he keeps Tuck and Grigg out of the side because those 2 have done some real bad turnovers over the past season or two, especially Grigg. How much of a liabilty was Grigg in that dreamtime game, 3 shocking turnovers by foot and a goal given away for deliberately rushed behind because he was too scared to kick the ball. Not afl standard

Your memory might need boosting, how did he go in the game against Norf?

Final game of the season? Might have to watch it again and let you know
I do remember he got caught holding the ball the first time we played them though. There were only 4 or 5 times I was disappointed in a situation he was in all season. That's at least half of what happened in 2010 and also 2009

I cant see anywhere where someone has stated Jackson was better previously than last year. He kicked something like 13 or 14 behinds in a row last year, a lot of them very gettable.

"Earlier this year he said he wanted to finish his career at Richmond."

Is what it says in the Herald Sun article. Does that mean that he wants to be a one-club player or that he wanted to leave? You could really take it two ways, but I guess if he meant that he wanted out, the media would be all over him and linking him to GWS.

Without wanting to alarm anyone Tom Scully also said at the start of the 2011 season that he too wanted to be a one club player and could see himself finishing his career at the Demons.

I won't be comfortable until I read the press release saying that Lids has signed up. However, if he did leave for GWS we should get ourselves a couple of picks inside the top 30 to use in the so called super draft of 2012.

I remember that interview and it's not as comforting as it sounds. He was asked about going to the GWS or something and he kinda dodged the question saying something along the lines of 'leaving that kinda thing to the agents' and 'not focusing on it' bla bla bla and finished by saying he would like to be a one club player.

I fricken love Deledio. Can play absolutely anywhere. I hope the fact he's moving into the midfield with Cotch and Martin means he'll live up to his (very high) hype.

Although if he DOES have an amazing year I'm afraid it will make GWS want him even more... Dimma said he wants to win...which makes me think we needa make finals to give him more reason to stay.

If he was going to leave he would have by now. Had many offers at the end of his last contract. Not to mention we were playing terrible footy and just lost a coach. I have no doubt he'll sign on.
