Heard a rumour earlier this year that he had been stitched up by Carlton for 2013. Hope to hell that this isn't true! Maybe he'll work at Visy too.
I really feel that we need to make the finals this year for him to stay. I guess it would mean no injuries to key players for this to happen.

Surely Carlton wouldn't have the money for him. Not sure who they could put on the veterans list to free up some cap space. Especially if they go after Goddard.

He signed his last deal with the club in late 09 so this would've been around the time GC were recruiting players and just after the season from hell after all the hype. GWS don't have an Ablett though so they might throw a bit more money around. Let's hope he stays.

Did dimma actually say that lids had to earn his stripes????????

I guess we can always fall back on that gun midfielder tom hislop or maybe even mitch farmer.

Lets support the coach but we could be 1 and 5 with the draw we have and dimmas extension might be tasting a little sour.

maybe the coach needs to earn his stripes as well.

Lids and Conca to the midfield according to Dimma in the HS. Awesome! Giddy up finals. Cotch, Martin, Foley, Deledio, Conca must be one of the most offensive midfields in the comp. If Ross Smith can get them playing defensively and they stay on the park we are a big show. Surely.

Anyone who tells you that Lids to Carlton in 2013 is a done deal with a straight face isn't worth the time. Delusional.
I thought they were too! But this guy gets info from people within the club so it made me wonder...

As I said earlier, if we make the finals, I don't think he'd leave. If we finish bottom four though, that is another story.

He wouldn't go to GWS and play in a poor side again.

The Carlton rumour has to be absolute rubbish. How exactly are they going to get him? He will be a restricted free agent so whatever another club were to offer we could match in order to take away the FA. The only way Carlton would get him is through a trade and they wouldn't have anywhere near enough to secure a superstar like Deledio.

Great to see him play a lot more time through the middle, let's hope he is not used as a tagger ever again though:D

That was more head to head than tagging. He's done that well before that to, I remember when he beat Judd a couple of years back, to almost snatch us the win. I think it was when Fev kicked an absolutely ridiculous amount of goals.

Restricted free-agency means that we're not going to lose him to Carlton - we've got more cap space than they do, plain and simple.

Was pretty handy tagging Goddard against the Saints earlier this year
Was that tagging or manning him up as a defender off half back. Was shocking on Danyle Pearce against Port remember and should only be used in a run with role as mentioned on Judd never as a shutdown tagger.

I would actually hope they still give Cotchin attention and let Deledio off the loose, because I think Lids can hurt a side more than Cotch.

Sorry, but when you completely nullify your opponent it is more than just head to head, it is tagging him out of the game and then getting plenty of the ball the other way.

He played as a midfielder that day, Goddard wasn't playing as a half forward

goddard had about 13/14p's with lids about 33/34p's
If a tagger kept Judd to 14 disposals and got about the same the other way we'd have said he'd done a great job. Goddard was getting games of high 30 disposal games this year, averaged almost 30 a game last year. Keeping him to 14 touches would be an amazing result for just a tagger, what Lids did the other way was just a demolition job.

Shows how irrelevant the Brownlow has become given he didn't get a vote for this game.

Even look back to our second game against the Blooze last year, when we were smashed. Lids was put on to Judd and then Murphy before half time and shut them both down whilst he was on them... was basically putting out spot fires. Unfortunately he didn't have much backup.

Exactly my point.
You can't stop Cotchin from getting the ball even if you tag him.
Cotchin is an inside clearance player with that rare ability to have finesse on the outside as well but Deledio, don't get me wrong he's my favourite player but him as an inside player is a no-no because he gets SOOOOOOOOO much attention from the opposition player because he is just so damaging if you let him loose, if he gets the ball from outside the 50 he'll kick a goal 10 out of 10.

Would be shocked if he went to GWS. Could end up playing 300 games without a final.

I am very worried about him leaving at the end of 2012 though. I reckon we'll have another poor year and there will be some big offers for him.
