Really hope so man - I think a massive statement needs to be made during the Summer, and it's a statement that will have more effect if a couple of the gold pass brigade join the above-mentioned.
haha I was actually being a little sarcastic to be honest.

A heap should have gone, but it wont happen.

That's my concern - that very few will actually go and the culture we've built up over the last 4 years of underachievement will continue unabated.

Can someone explain to me, why a club that has won only two games for the season, and constantly has said a massive cleanout will take place at seasons' end, continues to want to / try to sign players that have been duds this season, and in some cases for the last 3/4 seasons???

It's baffling...
This is the worrying thing for me too.

For all the noise we have heard from Primus during the year, all the quotes like "we'll see who wants to play for the Club" etc, atm it looks like he's too "matey" with players & staff to do what's required.

You can't actually clean out so many players.
Mainly due to the fact that you only get a certain number to draft players back in unless some good trades can be found but we haven't got much or anything any other club might want.

It's a point that seems to be lost on a few people. We don't get 15 choices at the draft, unless we trade for them. I'm not sure that any club would be comfortable approaching the signing of players based on an assumption that half the league is going to be willing to trade for their scraps.

I would love nothing more than to be rid of a host of senior players, but I'm not holding my breath to wait and see if half a dozen clubs throw mid-60s draft picks at us instead of finding a Nick Duigan or Paul Puopolo for themselves.

Re: Teams Port v Melbourne

The fact that Ebert has been offered a new deal according to Primus and is still in the side suggests otherwise, unfortunately. I hope you're right though.
From what i have heard it is a 1 year deal with a significant pay cut, giving him no other choice but to shop himself around for a better deal elsewhere.

So we dont have the balls to delist a player,

We just play them a dodgy card?

For sure. If this were a strong uncompromised draft, then maybe a few more players would be sent packing. As it is, we'll probably have 4-5 national draft picks. The critical factor is for us to draft well so when the end of season comes we're not faced with a plethora of sub standard players as we have been lately. Thompson, Harding, M.Westhoff and Nash would have to be the dudest of the duds to ever be delisted in one hit. This year the delistments will be of higher quality and if we continue drafting well we may get to the stage where players will be truly unlucky to lose their spot on our list.

As for Ebert, given he hasnt signed yet, I'm inclined to believe it's a 1 year offer and he's sussing out other options. He may survive on the list this year but it'll be tough for him to survive beyond next year.

Re: Teams Port v Melbourne

Re the Ebert situation, don't first year draftees (non rookie) get 2 years on the list ? So offering a one year contract to himself and/or the likes of D Motlop at significant pay cuts is partly about being positioned for next year's allegedly deeper draft.

Nothing short of delisting him will be a good result for Port. It's unfortunate for Ebert who I've always liked, but the club has to be bigger than the player.

He and Kane need to be first and second out the door.
Primus has said kane will be at the club next year so i doubt that will happen
