Had dinner with this guy and a hawthorn player last nite, and was suprised to how much brett johnson has baulked up. He is a very strong young guy, and i think for all you carlton supporters out there, you have picked up a very handy player. He said that the training down there at carlton is extremely tough, but is enjoying it at the moment. Will wear the number 10 next year, and should fit nicely into the midfield.

He was very happy to move across to carlton with his teammate daniel harford, basically carlton had to take harford as well to secure brett. He is a great young guy, and was very positive about his change of club, and thinks the blues will be a very good team next year, and a few younger players may suprise a few.

Watch this kid closely next year blues fans, because he could be a super player for your club.

This is what I have been trying to get across to people who for one reason or another just refuse to listen to reason.

Except one player (mentioned above, who is talented though) all other players are held in high regard by the opposition supporters or teams they came from.

I believe Stevens, Scotland, Johnson, Bowyer, Teague, Morrell and probably McGrath will play from day one.

Remember he only couldnt get a game at Hawthorn because there were many others like him (greene, clarke etc), not because he lacks ability.

He will suprise many next year...along with Mr Norman.

Only that many of our supporters weren't even born the last time we had a decent player wearing #10.

Cheer Red Blood, Matthew Allan wore #24.

I agree, Brett Johnson is going to be a very handy footballer.
Number 10 is cursed though. Someone should tell him.
The last guy i remember who was ok wearing number 10 was alan Mangles in the mid 70s.

Brett Johnson was a star junior in WA.

Played a few flashy games for Hawthorn, notably against Essendon in 2001 round 8 or 9 at Telstra Dome.

Very smart with the football, can find open players, just needs to be in the midfield. Young and no injury worries, could be a great pick-up.

As for Harford, has played a lot of senior football and will be handy around the club. Not as old as many think and is capable of making a comeback in the right conditions.

Hawthorn had no room for these blokes with Crawford, Mitchell etc.

Best of luck Carlton

Johnno will be good given more game time to develop at Carlton.

Many will be surpised by Harford who I am tipping to become a regular starter in the Blues best 22. Harf is a top bloke, and a very smart and skillfull footballer.

For the record I think the Blues will finish around 12th. Good luck to Steve Kenna and the Hawthorn boys that have gone across (except on the 11th June that is).

am really looking forward to see Johnno in the navy blue next year...lot of my mates are mad hawks supporters so i have seen a fair bit of them over the years.....i think he will add a bit to our midfield and could haunt the hawks for years to come.......

as for giving him the number 10 jumper...hopefully he has a better career at the blues than the previous owners........Brad Shine, Stephen Oreilly, Michael Mansfield, and the worst player ever to come under the father-son rule, Michael James

agree Schwab, Harford is a handy player, and should give us some good service with his first full pre-season in 3 years.

Only time will tell with all the new guys, but they are terrific on the training track and there is a great buzz around the CLub at the moment. Let's hope it can translate to some on-field form, but do not lose sight of the fact that these guys are all coming together for the first time, and may well take some time to settle in to new team mates, new coach and new game plan.
