Re: Respect for brett ratten

We have injuries but we also have poor depth bec of poor recruitment and list management

Should never have let Grigg go. He was in our best midfield when we let him go. He might have wanted more money than he was worth but club should have looks at bigger picture

Club have been completely and utterly negligent

Ratten and Hughes should get the sack at the very least

We didn't let him go, the weak prick walked. Don't rewrite history to suit your own agenda.

Re: Respect for brett ratten

With Roos and Malthouse hovering, if the board don't think Ratts is as good as them, then it would be perfect timing - I too am a bit of a ruthless bastard ;)

Ruthless? I think you mean short-sighted and emotional.

Re: Respect for brett ratten

Name me some current coaches with innovative game styles?[/quote
so youre excusing him based on your belief that theres other shit coaches going around.
clarkson is one, sanderson is showing the way he new exactly what was needed and has lifted them in one preseason.thomson and hird dismantled rattens game plan in one afternoon and weve been shit ever since, mcartney has a thin list but what a great teacher of the game, watters outsmarted ratten in his first crack at it,worsfold goes ok.
he just got spanked by primus for ffs

Re: Respect for brett ratten

I have not been emotional about us for a month however I have had some experience in football land and been called ruthless

Consider the advantages he lists and argue against them IF the board were to consider that Ratts is not the best on offer right now

Re: Respect for brett ratten

There aren't many but that makes sense as they are innovators

Do you expect all coaches to innovate ??

In order, over last decade they have been

Roos
Clarkson
Lyon
Malthouse - though arguably he copied Lyon and expanded on his game plan
Clarkson again

And acknowledgment to Hird/Thompson for shutting down Carltons strength ie : their running players

Hey guess what? Two of the above are theoretically available right now !!

You know what you should do? Put aside your childish agenda and instead listen to stark obvious reason. If you do you'll see Ratten is not a great coach.

Not that that's our only problem of course. But at the end of the day the buck stops with the coach

Time is up for Ratten; but before the coach goes there needs to be a clean out of the playing list as well as the recruting staff. Matt Rendell needs to be hired as soon as possible, as for Ratten he has done his job over the five years, but the guy has been found out. No game plan A and no other strategy at all. Seems to play the soft, gutless passengers and there are quite a few of the players that know they will never be dropped.

I think the season is shot to hell, wont be making the eight, too many seagulls in this team, knew we were in trouble after the Essendon game, we are a very easy team to work out and intimidate, even getting found out against teame like GWS. Cant use the injury excuse either, no depth either, we recruited too many skinny wingers and the so called hard nuts we do have are either slow or their skills arent AFL standard, pretty big indictment on the club and staff.

he walked coz he was sick of playing in the twos and getting dropped after one game, ratten mismanaged him and you know it,his situation is similar to laidlers except laidler was behind some quality players

If we wanted to keep him we would have

You think he left bec he likes the color yellow?

He left for more money and for a guarantee of being played in the seniors

When he left he was in our seniors and doing very well but before that was stupidly being omitted I guess to prove a point

But he should never have been on the outter to such a degree and the fact he was us what pushed him away from the club

Good size, tank, hard ball winner. Club erred in being so tough on him and paid the price

He had every right to say 'stuff you'

Club should have seen bigger picture which clearly you still can't see !!

Blind Freddy could see back then it was ridiculous he was so much on the outter

Don't twist history to suit your club driven propaganda. If you chose to do that then you make yourself part of the problem!

Re: Respect for brett ratten

Carlton offered Grigg a contract and told him that if he worked for it he would be in the 22. He told the club he would resign on those conditions and then decided to walk. Will never forgive Grigg for what he put the club through. He hasn't improved that much anyway. If people think Gibbs is a squib then watch Grigg last night - nobody moves away from a contest quicker than Grigg.

Exactly, he is nothing, too many people caught up in stats again.

He was awful when he played for us and had a terrible attitude as well!

Re: Respect for brett ratten

Let Hydey coach them - he will speak from the heart and they will never wonder whether he is more interested in simply keeping his job (they're not really letting him coach the Northern Blues so it is never going to happen)

i think you just made all of that up ive never heard anybody from the club say that, but if you can quote someone id love to hear it

Re: Respect for brett ratten

Ratten is no worse or better than most coaches. A coach is only as good as the players he has at his disposal. Hird lost to the winless Dees tonight, should he be sacked. ? Fans, and I include pies ones too, always blame the coach after bad losses, Buckley copped heaps after Rd 3, then it all turned around. Injuries do play a major part too.

He played 8 games out of 9 between Round 14 & Round 22 of the 2010 season, after coming off an injury riddled pre-season. He didn't exactly keep getting dropped after one game. He walked, despite his manager telling the club he was going to sign another contract. Grigg was a lying, lazy prick. If you think he is so good perhaps a Tigers' membership might be the go.

Re: Respect for brett ratten

Couldn't coach his thumb up his arse in today's football.

Know he's your mate from the olden days, not sure what he adds to today's game.

These are 19 year old kids, listening to a grand dad.

Would rather at Ratten/Teague type in their ear, every day of the week.

Concerned,
Adelaide.

It is simple Numbers -
1. If near the pill - get it
2. If not near pill and forward of ball provide an option
3. If not near pill and behind ball wear your man
4. When you get pill give it to one of our blokes if you cannot kick a goal
:)

yeah youre right and he got dropped for the final v sydney and dont give me any crap about being injured the only injury concern from round 22 was carrazzo and he got up, grigg even got 3 votes in the b&f for hisround 22 game

Thought he played in the final against the Swans???

Seem to remember one of the worst set shots for goal I have ever seen by him when he hit a supporter in the crowd who was eating a pie at the time!!

What game am I thinking of then???
