According to Jon Ralph, Malthouse had sounded out Laidley to be an assistant had he landed a coaching job after Collingwood.

These are two men that I admire greatly in the world of AFL coaches....

Walker is our best player, there is no doubt about it - takes a lot of people time to realise this - its a passive thing.

But he is clearly our best player and has been for two years. Murphy is number two - Walker does everything murph does, then about 18 things more. - Super star.

If some joe-blow had of told me I wouldn't have bothered posting. Ive only ever passed on two things before onto this board.

1. Got told we would pick up Tom Bell. We did.
2. Only small but when my mate was at Visy and Barker told him Hendo was on no jumping. I passed that on because I thought he wouldn't play.

I didn't think this was threadworthy so I just posted it in here. You don't have to pay any notice to it but im simply passing on what I was told for anyone who is interested.

Well you seem to have no issues with ratten the players or our performance so that is the only conclusion.

I would like to see you list some negatives explaining our poor season.

Just been viewing a few of your posts and whilst I can see you are a passionate Carlton supporter I believe you would be better suited barracking for the Tigers who have a reputation for eating their own young.Stop with the negativity and back our boys to get over this slump and when we make the 8 this year applaud the players and coach who will be very damaging in September.

Just want to point something out regarding that comment form Mark Fine.

You have 2 assistants who have an excellent track record of developing players.

Gavin Brown coached our VFL side for a few years and was instrumental as it came to fruition in 2010 when we unearthed the likes of Reid, Blair, Wellingham, Macaffer, Toovey, Goldsack, Brown etc all of whom spent periods of 2010 playing VFL footy. They were able under his development to overtake more experienced senior players and phase them out.

Alan Richardson was responsible for setting up our youth academy/development set up from 2005 which has nurtured and developed almost every current player on our list beginning from that period. You're talking players of the ilk of Thomas, Pendlebury, Brown, Reid, Dawes, Goldsack, Sidebottom, Beams etc. List goes on and on.

There's nothing "easy" about Gavin Brown or Alan Richardson. Both were super in their roles for us and played key roles to get us to where we are today.

You guys have 2 beauty's on your hands here.

Thanks for your post. I agree with you regarding both Richardson and Brown, Richardson almost got the Saints job at the end of last year and was happy he didnt so would stay. I have heard players say good things about these two.
Something i have heard is that the assistants often give their opinions during games and Ratten ignores their advice, he doesnt listen to anyone.
I for one would love to see one of these guys take over, i just hope that if the club does have the balls to act it goes through a proper process of appointing a new coach.

Really? I've heard that Ratts backs his assistants to the hilt, trusts them to run their lines and has regular reviews and brainstorming sessions.

I've heard there are some people destabilising our club at the moment. I'm thinking these people have been lying in wait for the first sign of a form reversal. I've heard the stability of the last 4 years has been killing these people & they have a lot of pent up frustration to release. I'm wondering if perhaps Lauraine Diggins is in our midst again.
