Re: Respect for brett ratten

Yet Ross Lyon is also looking at doing the same thing & if Hawthorn could keep their rucks on the ground they would most likely be doing it to, with Hale playing at FF.[/

Sorry not true.

206, hammer and kruz are pure rucks. If at any stage one of them kicks 70 goals in a season like roughead and 8 goals on Scarlett as per hale then happy to agree. But while Kruz and hammer continue to have zero impact as forwards I will respectfully suggest yor examples are flawed.

As for the saints kosi is a proven fwd so refer above.

You don't think that it might have something to do with the 4 key forwards on the list being unavailable?

Re: Respect for brett ratten

Maybe going to try a new gameplan like play 1 in each third of the ground....

Warnock - ruck through the middle
Hampson - forward line ruck and long option
Kreuzer - loose man in defense or match up on resting ruckmen

Big body in every part of the ground:confused:

Re: Respect for brett ratten

It is a bit like you can't play Ellard, Curnow and Mclean in the same team. Well you kind of have to if Murphy and Carrazzo are unavailable.
Is that the same logic that see's Gibbs play across half back when Laidler and Yarran are out and Duigan going awfully...

Re: Respect for brett ratten

Hampson an Kreuzer can take a mark - they have done it to good effect this season in fact - they just haven't done it since Collingwood.

Don't understand what is meant by the term 'modern football game' - what I am noting is a lot of teams are looking to go through the corridor - is that modern?

I think St Kilda play with as many talls as they can get on to the paddock - as do Gee long. Dont really know what the big deal is...

Hampson took 7 marks against GWS - and kicked 3 goals, he also took 5 marks against St Kilda. Only 1 v Adelaide, 2 v Essendon, and 3 v Freo, but its not the same as not taking any since Collingwood.

Kreuzer took 8 marks against GWS, 5 against the bombers. (and the odd one against everyone else. Again not the same as not taking anything

Never seen someone get so upset when people don't agree with them. It's a sports forum. You'd do yourself a favour by understanding that regardless of your thoughts, they aren't going to be agreed with by all and followed slavishly by club coaches. Relax, drink less, sleep more, post fewer rants.

Way I see it if we stop him posting rants we stop him posting.

possessions are nice - even though my post and the post it was in response to didnt mention them - and he did ok in the last quarter. Sure he could be playing better, but hes far from the spud you are making him out to be

Good post. In audas' world the sun never shines. It is all doom & gloom. The glass is definitely half empty. If only a bad patch of form by the Blues was all we had to battle in this world.

Footy is very important to me. Every loss we have hurts significantly, but the great thing about footy (except for during the finals) is that there is always next week.

My grandfather, who was a passionate Williamstown supporter, used to tell me about a particular Williamstown supporter he knew back in the 1930s, a period when Williamstown struggled to consistently win games, who after every loss would say to his fellow supporters, "don't worry, we will win next week." Blind optimism perhaps, but in 1939 they won the premiership after an 18 year drought.

Will we win the premiership this year? Probably not. Does this mean we won't win a premiership in the coming years? No it doesn't. Before the start of this season the consensus was that we should make Top 4 this year & at least make a preliminary final. After Round 3 the media & obviously some supporters, decided we can go all the way. I didn't buy into this, although it was nice to be considered as a chance for the premiership.

We are still short of quality in the 25+ age group. Players like Yarran, Kreuzer, Hendo, Laidler, Garlett, Hampson, Lucas, Robinson, Tuohy, even Gibbs, still have their best football ahead of them. We are expecting way too much of these players at this stage, while we have been prepared to be patient, to an extent with the development of the likes of Murphy, Simpson, Walker, Betts, Carrazzo.

We will win a premiership within the next couple of years. I am very confident of that, but we were never ready to win one this year.

Re: Respect for brett ratten

Well said medium. Do you think Ratts is the best guy to take us to 17?

Re: Respect for brett ratten

Ratts has a big week ahead. It is pretty clear he needs to drop Jeff, but I can't remember him ever dropping a name player tbh.

There is something rotten within our team at the moment and Jeff staying in will only spread it. It is up to Ratten to stop it.

I agree Jeff is in being dropped form, but, is there anyone in the 2's to replace him? How has O'keefe been going? You would think that if he is fit and in any sort of form, this has to be his last chance of a spot?

Ratts has had us playing very good football at times & on our day we can match it with any team. What has happened over the last 4-5 weeks goes way beyond anything Ratts has control over. He can't be blamed for Gibbs' failure to step up this season, or for Jeffy's inability to find a goal. Nor can he be held responsible for so many of our KPFs getting injured or ill (Waite, Mitchell, Rowe, Casboult).

Ratts can take us to #17, but like any premiership team, we need a lot of things to go right.

Dunno the last time O'Keefe played so that ain't gonna happen.. If there isn't a like-for-like I say we suck it up, drop him anyway and rejig things until he is deserving of his spot again. His performance today was so far past unacceptable that it would be more detrimental to the team to keep him in.
