Look coming from a predominantly TV basis I've been a massive critic in the past and I know there's been a whole dichotomy going with his radio and TV commentary but I just felt tonight he was a lot better and a lot closer to the radio side of the pendulum. Could it be that the retirement of D. Cometti has actually allowed him to potentially have a breakout season? You just get the feeling Bruce straightens him up a bit don't you?

But there wasn't nearly as much stupid bullshit that we've come to expect from the Saturday night broadcasts of past. He was better. I'm sure of it.

I didn't really notice his commentary tonight so I think I agree with you.

He was much more professional in his Friday night 'trial runs' last year so not surprised. The Saturday night joker was clearly a persona he put on with encouragement from above. I think he's a good commentator when he wants to be.

Every time BT has been with Bruce over the last few years he has done a good job.

I think I would struggle if I had to listen to him call a Carlton game otherwise I quite enjoy his commentary. :thumbsu:

Better yes, but still can't stand him.

The way he gives his options and then harps on them every five minutes for the rest of the match does my fecking head in.

BT is growing on me like a wart. Much better as a radio commentator on Triple M when he can swear and insult James Brayshaw.

Last year it got to the stage where I just couldn't even watch or listen to BT at all.
This year he has remarkably tolerable.

I still think he is way better on MMM but on 7 he is under instruction to tone it down and as a result isn't great.

Yes BT is better than Darce.

But it's like asking whether you'd rather stick a pin in your finger or your eyeball.

He's definitely toned it down this year. Particularly on Friday nights.

Agree he’s much more restrained and tolerable this year – probably similar to how he used to be on Foxtel in the late 00s.

As for the change, I can only summarise Channel 7 treat Sat night footy as the ‘non-serious’ match in their broadcasts and hence make it all jokey and goofing around. If it was entertaining it would be tolerable but it wasn’t.
