Bring back Brock?

I can't believe we have sunk so low as to even consider getting Brock back on our list. This is a sad, sad day.

Most of you are spot on, this is a terrible idea.

Brock is cooked, he is behind Curnow and Ellard for us.

You guys have Magner who is much better than Brock now.

Brock would only be useful at GWS, otherwise he will win a few Liston Trophies.

Could not agree more. Rebuilding the rebuild with a failure from the original rebuild. Do we not have self respect?

Exactly. What annoys me more is that we are all talking about cleaning out our list and bringing in quality players who will suit the game style and play for Neeld. Then we go and entertain the idea of bringing Brock McLean, a washed up has been who wouldn't be in our best 35, back to the club to "help out the young kids" and to "win us some contested ball." Absolutely ludicrous.

Not Brock - but the sentiment is right. An older, wiser head that is desperate to go around one or two more times whilst teaching the younger players.

Magner was a great move. 1 or 2 more players, not necessarily in the same mould, and not not necessarily from the VFL, would not go astray.

Don't be surprised Neeld does exactly that

Brock is finished at AFL level

We simply have too many on out list that are not AFL standard

We have some promising youngsters but that's all we have as most of senior list are B Graders at best

was a solid footballer until he injured his ankle and hasnt been the same since.

goodluck to him at the blues i hope he gets a run this year

but i cant fathom how you would want him back he is slower than bate

If I can be brutally honest here - I'd rather drink my own piss than see him back on our list.

He at least bleed for this club, which can't be said for a lot of the current players

Yep he bled red and blue so much he asked for a trade.
Wrong, he bled only red until all that was left was blue, then he took off.

However he gave a fair bit of currency to the debt demo - he knew the writing was on the wall, all the best. He's washed up unfortunately.

I had to pinch myself in 2009 to remind myself that he was on the ground. He can't be any better than what he was then . . . . .

Still think there was more to it

I think he knew he would struggle to get a game after a less than impressive 2009 and asked for a trade while a club would still take him on. For some reason Carlton paid zero attention to that and coughed up a first rounder for him as they were desperate to get Judd some help.

If he had of waited another year no club would have touched him. Did the right thing for his career but the game, and his body, had long passed him by.

Last thing we need is another slow inside midfielder with average skills, particularly one who walked out on the club. Moloney, Jones, McKenzie, Bate, Magner, Couch...I think we're more than covered there.

No offence to those here considering this trade, but it's just utterly ridiculous IMO.

I think going back is not the way forward for the Dees. There's plenty of young guys worth persisting with without bringing back past players.

That said, I would accept literally any offer from the Dees for McLean. He was mistake to get when we got him, a disaster at the price, and worth very little right now. I want him off the roster so we can stop talking about playing him in the seniors where, sadly, he just doesn't belong any more.

Brock was an awesome awesome player for a couple of years there, but that time is long gone.

We will give you morton and bate for Judd and Mclean, but you have to pay mclean on the visy books

You did say anything :)

Heh. Gawd. Morton and Bate are two of the most disappointing players on an AFL list, in my view. They've both utterly failed to develop into the players I thought they would. They should be (roughly) Andrew Embley and Ryan O'Keefe sorts by now, and are obviously nowhere near that.
