Well, I was hoping more that people would open their hearts to a once favourite son and at least entertain the fairytale that would be Fev booting us to #17. I was glad to see so many did, when I expected much less.

Anyway, it was an interesting experiment, and I think a largely good example of what forums are all about - hypothesis and reasoned argument. A good study in social media.

I wonder what psych student Duigan would think...

The fairytale bit is a shambles as the guy has probably been a tool his whole life. It's more whether he could do a role for Carlton and do we have a need :thumbsu:.

My second and last post in here. Ratts was on one of the footy shows last week and was asked if Fev would be back a Carlton next year and he said straight out "NO".

That pretty much sums it up for me.

How ironic it would be if Fev is at Carlton in 2012 and Ratts is rolled

probably not, but crazier things have happened - ask K Rudd
but are you saying ratts was responsible for Fev getting the boot and it would be ironic if he was booted and Fev came back?

Oh, no, no, no, no. I've resisted the political argument - happily sport isn't so monumentally contrary, otherwise I would have said something like Scotland/Ratts/Icke/Swann/Sticks/TheGeneral saying no way will Fev play for Carlton again is tantamount to Gillard saying No Carbon Tax.

Not at all.
Fev was his own worst enemy and his behaviour was treated appropriately by the board, albeit way too late. (Had they gone harder earlier perhaps Fev would still be at Visy Pk.)
The irony would be if Ratts, building an alternative forward line post Fev, fails to win a final and gets the boot. A new coach identifying a weakness ahead of centre goes out on a limb and recruits Fev. I doubt it would be a 1st year coach but a Roos, Malthouse or Matthews may just fancy their chances in a battle of mind games with Fev.
All speculation and fantasy but.

too late, you're nicked !

fev is a great player, hey if essendon can bring back watson as they did in 1993, keep fletcher on for possibly another year going on 37 then the blues would be smart considering it, fev is great for footy.

someone should give him a bloody go

he rebelled at brisbane and felt the pain of rejection, if he came back even as stupid as he has been in the past he wouldnt reoffend as he would be out the door.

see that is the thing. When our own players don't know where the goals are going to come from how can our opponent! Put Fev back in and our game plan will return to kick it to Fev and our off field culture will return to pi$$ing on walls.
This is why this thread serves no purpose.

Why do you assume that that's how it would be? How can you possibly think that with the incentive of redemption that he would be exactly the same as before? This is so mindboggingly obtuse, yet every naysayer assumes the same thing.

Except for voicing one's opinion....including yours.

wasn't that the idea of Brisbane?
Now he will be 3 years older, less mobile, less able to exert the new forward pressure thing. Kicking a bag in a blow out VFL game is not the grind of an AFL pre season home and away plus finals campaign.
Fev did not just have the Brownlow. He had years of on field and off field examples. He is a club legend for the Colemans etc but as a club and player group we have moved on.

Because that's how it's always been.

Not a history fan eh?
