I think it's about time to see the back in the hoops. At least he presents, and knows what to do when he gets the ball.

Yeah, he plays on straight away and gets caught holding the ball.

I personally wouldnt bring him in on last night. Why is our forward line copping crap for last night? Our delivery at times was pathetic into it. How many times did Ottens go on a lead only for it to be 5-10 metres too short?

David Haynes last night would have had little influence IMO, but if big H is out long term you may just get your wish

Im not having a go at the players that are in the at the moment, I just reckon hes a goer. We were a fair rabble last night, but I dont think the H-bomb has that much influence, that said, i may be wrong.

Haynesy has some sort of hip injury so unless it improves dramatically by next week he won't be playing.

Go CATS!!

I think last night showed how much of an influence H is, did we have any target across half forward last night?

Definetely! heance the reason we were pushed wide and the ball got turned over up the field. H is more important than any would think. At least he presents.

Bring him in. He will hold the footy in our forward 50 not like Gardner, Lonergan and Mackie. 6 ft 3 with great hands and a good kick. He presents and can cause more damage that the 3 guys mentioned.
And he's bloody physical.
We need more direction. Kick long and put it on ottos head

I don't know about the good kick (he can kick well, but often stuffs up), but you're right about keeping the footy in.

Dessy is great at applying pressure and putting in second and third efforts, areas Charlie Gardiner is lacking in.

His importance to our finals performance was undervalued in my opinion. If he didn't injure his ankle in the PF against Brisbane, I'm sure we would have played in a GF the following week. It was no coincidence we fell down at half forward after he went off.

He'll present monotonously and with H out we need that presence across half-forward as it's vital to our forward line structure.

I would like to see him back cause i think he is more deserving of a spot than Charlie. Presents, can kick goals and is hard at the ball.

It's only a matter of time before he gets another go, he had a real crack in the finals lastyear while kk was out, he'll b bak and better then ever

I like him in the way that he constantly presents and that's what forwards should do. His kicking for goal though is a liability and he has to improve there. We already have Kent who can be erratic with his kicking, Haynes is probably similar in that respect. That's whay I'm a big Tom Lonergan fan. His kicking for goal in the seniors has been brilliant.

Lonergan has played what a whole 1 game

Yeah but he's kicked 5-6? goals and his kicking for goal has been good so far. He kicked the ball well for goal against Collingwood last Friday under pressure.

The last year or two, in certain games we have been inaccurate (Round 17 2004 against Carlton, Round 15 2004 against Collingwood and in the Preliminary Final) and good kicking for goal can win you games. Simple as that!

I definitely like Lonergan's kicking, but think that is genuinely the only thing he has going for him at the moment.
He looks lost on the field. Not too bad up forward, I think the few games he's had will help him develop well, and we should give him more games slowly.
But I think after 2 losses, we should get out best all round team on the park...people like Thurley & Lonergan are too one dimensional right now.

EDIT...Haynes for Charlie G...give Haynes a chance...Charlie G has dropped off in form.

I's more than certain games we've been inaccurate. If you check the scores from last year we kicked more points than goals in most matches. It is still one of our big problems - we don't hurt sides on the scoreboard like we should. Last week Mackie, Gardiner and Kingsley all missed absolute sitters. It has and it will continue to cost us games.

Having said that, watch Haynes not get a kick and when he does miss targets by a mile. He's not up to it. Happy to be proven wrong, but can't see that changing.

haynes is better than half the geelong forward line that get a game week in week out. his kicking lets him down but he is a very handy forward.

Better than Ottens ? No
Better than KK ? No
Better than H ? Probably not
Better than Chappy ? No frigging way
Better than Ablett ? No frigging way
Better than the guy that's had 38 chances ? Absolutely

So he's better than 1 out of 6.That's not half.

haha yeah true, but isnt he more value then playfair or gardner? i thought he was meant to be really good!?

Have you actually seen H play this year? Playfair has been superb at CHF.

Right now Dessy would definitely be more value than 38 Chances Gardiner, but then again, so would Marcus Baldwin.
