Bring back josh fraser

Did we win? That is what people remember.
He was stuffed before that game despite his body failing was playing well, the leg injury topped it off.

Weve won 2 premierships in 55 years, its hardly a habit of ours.

Stuffed before that game? Im sure he kicked 3 goals in one of those games and was one of our best.

I already said he was playing well, imagine how good he would have been if he had been managed better from when he first arrived?

He became soft, had nothing to do with playing him early. Too easily bumped off the ball, just ask peter bell.

He wasn't soft in his first year at the pies. Seems a feasible conclusion that playing him as first ruck forced him into using his body in ways it wasn't ready for, which may have led to poor technique - going to ground - or reluctance to throw himself right in there. A couple of years experience and growth before being thrown into the first ruck role may have seen him develop better technique from the start.

Everybody else to blame or any excuse besides putting any responsibility on MM. Right, I get it now.

Unlike u who blames everything on one man. Well that era is our most successful era for over 50 years, hard for u to stomach but the truth.
Pointless talking to u about anything in that era as u want to wipe it out from your memory.

Okay, unlike you of course.

Okay, unlike you of course.

I blamed malthouse footy show appearance for affecting our 2011 chances, i just dont blame every little thing on one man.

I hope u wernt cheering on fraser during 2002-3 final series, i hope u were saying dont play him, hes too young, too fragile, otherwise u would be a bit of a hypocrite i would hav thought.

Continue your hate, it obviously serves u well.

Hate is much too strong a word and requires so much negative energy. Don't like it and I don't use it!
And you are entirely missing the point but never mind, continue knowing me better than I know myself...

Good player, no star, but very serviceable.
Can you imagine the pasting he'd get on big footy if he played these days?
And he was by eveyones account clearly the number 1 of his junior year, they called it the golden spoon IIRC.
Classic case of dominant junior going into the open field and not quite getting big enough to be dominant as a senior.
I think a lot of you only remember his last few miserable seasons....
Josh Fraser was so good early the dirty campaigners at AFL house changed the ****ing rules.

Lockyer
Rocca
Burns
And Bucks.
Screams a little too much nepotism.
Let's get the best available.
Maybe take a note out of Clarksons book and recruit coaches who have had day jobs.
Aptly named poster....soon to ex-poster I would assume....Kaa Hampaighner

Josh finally got his senior Premiership View attachment 178084
I wonder why Fraser was playing for Labrador in the QAFL when he was coaching Gold Coast Suns Reserves in the NEAFL, but good to see Josh have something to be happy about. I see Matthew Lappin (mentioned a few posts earlier) was obviously in the Grand Final winning team as well.

Had the tremendous amount of courage it takes for all players to cross the line on an AFL field, yes. And in no way am I intending to disrespect him. In my opinion he would be ranked in the bottom half of players of his size and position for the physical side of his game.

My main point is that his career wasn't destroyed by Mick Malthouse "playing him early' like so many like to suggest on this board. He was sheltered to a reasonable degree. He was a solid average player, not a superstar who would have won six brownlows if MM hadn't have played him in the first two years....

Problem is he never really physically developed so he really should have been sheltered his whole career.

Understand Jellybean but if he was so average how did he get picked in The Vic team?
That doesn't smack of a third quartile player in his position

Yeah, probably a low second quartile player then I would suggest, which would be in a generous 'average' range...

Had one very good half year (the year he made the Vic team) but he never gave the AA team a shake, probably never made one of the Mike Sheahan top 50s, and I don't recall any significant Copeland trophy finishes.

A good contributor, but not a superstar. And that wasn't Malthouse's fault.

Maybe as ruck coach but the Gold Coast reserves missed the NEAFL finals this year. Not sure if hes looking like a coaching star just yet, especially considering the amount of talent (Im assuming is) in that Gold Coast reserves team

Our reserves team didn't have enough numbers some weeks to field a team due to our injury list.

Our other reserves coach Skinny Lappin even had to play 1 week to make up numbers!

(We get the left overs that Southport Sharks don't want in their senior team & and a few academy kids).

So Josh did extremely well to just miss out on finals by %.

The NEAFL structure is diabolical. Another ACT team has left for next year. Down to 10 teams in the comp.

Josh has done a great job in general up here. Good rapport with the players. His coaching, in particularly his qtr break speeches improved greatly this season.

Wasn't the best "motivational speaker" when he started coaching up here, but really improving.

Will be missed.

Cheers for that info. Unfortunately it seems he is already lost to another team.

Interesting, thanks. Must have been some injury list!
