I don't mind giving Didak another chance. Kennedy and Martin (this year - in the future is different) don't have the X factor to turn and win a game for us. Where as Didak used to and may still have it in him.

I think we have missed Fas this year hitting up forward targets. Didak can offer this

Hi guys I'm new to this site.
My favourite players are the players of Daicos quality.
For what it's worth I'd like to point out in 2010 we had Didak (leading goal kicker and we won the big one)
In 2011 we had Krakouer (Runner up), In 2012 we had Krakouer (Preliminary final)
In 2013 we have.... (Dids and Krak are in VFL).
Who brings that daicos spirit to our forward line?
I remember the feeling in 2010 and 2011 of anything being possible as long as either Dids or Krak were in the team.
That thought in 2011 Round 9 vs Adelaide when my Dad told me we lost and I said "there's still one quater left".
Bring back that magic, other teams will panic in defence.

Welcome to BigFooty.
I think that Bucks has done a great job this year blooding the youth & setting us up for 2014 & beyond.
However now we need to inject some solid experience & X factor for the finals & we have two perfect candidates waiting in the wings.
Alan Didak............COME ON DOWN !!

Playing devils' advocate here, but what is everyone going to say when Didak comes in and refuses to lay a tackle or do anything to remotely help the side going the opposite way? The thing about Didak in his prime is he offered nothing defensively, but his link up skills and scoreboard hurt factor was so good that you could still play him and come out a ahead. Now at this stage of his career it's debatable whether he offers enough to carry him into the side with his limitations. Personally I wouldn't mind him getting a shot, but I think people forget how much debate he has caused over his performance when he was last getting games, and he's by no means a savior or really going to have much say in us winning a premiership this year, imo. Get games into Kennedy instead, who was really good in the VFL last effort.

Anyone else reckon his almost certain to come in this week? Theres just this "vibe" coming from the collingwood website.

I hope he does. Whenever he gets the ball you just feel as if something greats about to happen.
(my god; i sound like bruce)

Look at it like this, Elliot, the player he is replacing doesnt really have a defensive mindset. We sorely need that x factor in our forward line. Give dids another run, priemiership player who can do the impossible, solid form in the VFL, West Coast arent exactly A grade opponents. What do we have to lose?

Completely agree. What's really interesting though, is that when elliott first came to the club, his defensive pressure was a major part of his game. I remember he got some ridiculous amount of tackles against freo last year. (15 i think) i wonder why thats changed

All i can think of is that he's maybe gotten a little ahead himself and likes to see his head on the big screen to often. Its the same deal with the screamers he's been taking, i mean im not saying dont go for them because they make AFL so much better, but is that really where a little bloke should be in the marking contest.

You're talking mostly about the Malthouse era, doesn't apply too much right now. We do have to reduce their scores but part of that is less rebound from our F50 (and more scoring instead) which is a huge part of their scoring against us.
Seeing as the previous three times we've beaten them (in fact the only three since 2006), we kept them to scores of 59, 65 and 65, I reckon it's easier to try and lock down. Then the closest we got after that was the three point loss in 2010 when they scored 98, and you can throw in the 2007 game when it was roughly 90-80. Every other loss in that period has been a score conceded over 100 I'm pretty sure - no surprise they've all been heavy.

Didak hasn't had the X factor to turn a game for 3 YEARS.

Quite the contrary actually. On the 1 or 2 occasions when he has returned to the side fully fit over the past 3 seasons he has had immediate impact because of his elusiveness and elite disposal. He has never really had a defensive side to his game but what he adds to the side is the ability at times to make something out of nothing. I have no doubt that his ability is diminished to some extent but I'm fairly confident that when fit and in form he adds something the side desperately needs. Obviously there is no guarantee that he can recapture that but if his form in the VFL is good then the club would be crazy not to hive him another opportunity.

I agree with you completely, I'm simply saying i get the feeling he doesn't like Didak all that much.
Nothing more, no subliminals.

I think that Bucks approach to footy was different when they were team mates.
Bucks, the ultimate professional & perfectionist. Didak part of the rat pack (or brat pack) & lay back. I am sure they did not socialise together.
However Bucks (the coach) will still pick the best team horses for courses.
I think Didak has earned his shot (this weekend) & Bucks will give it to him.

I'm sure the Hawks are quivering at the thought of Didak returning. That should close the 36 point gap. Did you see his VFL highlights, he moves like a bus now.

Not sure where that comes from. I don't recall anybody suggesting that Didak will make up the difference singlehandedly but most people would agree that on the 1 or 2 occasions we've seen him fit since 2010 he has added a bit of a threat in our forward line which opposition defenders can't ignore. I've seen plenty of players play in the VFL and look totally lost because of the step-down in skills of their team mates. That doesn't mean they can't play at the top level although I think most would admit he doesn't have the speed he once had. Ultimately all that's being said is that he should be given another opportunity if fit and if he can't cut it then so be it. I don't believe the club should leave the question unanswered.

From what I understand Didak has said he will not be playing AFL again as he has a very good friend who is gravely ill and wants to spend time with him. He has said he will make himself available for VFL games and made no mention of playing on next season. Neither has the club.

Am I the only one who has heard this?
