Good wins to both Port and the Crows this week. Perfect lead in to the Showdown. Port probably to get Primus and Tredrea. Go the Power. Early thoughts from you, our fiendish Crow-supporting 'friends' ??

Should be a good game. Tredrea and Wilson will definetly come in. Kingsley and ****atoo-Collins are also in with a chance and Primus will have to prove his fitness.

Should be a VERY good game.

Odds would be even I reckon despite Ports recent record.
Its time we won a game for points though.

What a great luxury being able to rest Primus and Tredrea before such a big match.

Im tipping whoever makes the most of thier chances will do the other.
I wonder who will fire the first salvo.
Williams?
Smart?

I believe that the Port Power will & should start favs this week they will bring back Primus, Tredrae & Wilson fresh for this game & possibly Kingsley just for his record against the Crows, we had a fairly taxing game against the Eagles in warm conditions where as the paps had a relatively easy workout against the Blues after Carlton lost Kouta & Whitnall, what ever it will be another close & fiery showdown with the Crows class winning out in the end,

Should be a VERY interesting match. I'm tipping a extremely close match.

QUESTION:
I wonder if the Crows will go with taggers like Stenglein for both Nick Stevens and Gavin Wanganeen, or just let players like McLeod play off them. Any ideas?

I'm worried to be honest. We've won our last 2 but haven't been travelling too well. The movement into the forward line leaves a lot to be desired and we've burnt the ball a lot. We're going to have to lift substantially in this area if we are to get up.

By the way Pred I presume that's your pic that you are using in your avatar. While I think the Crows' colours suit you, you should shave off that ridiculous moustache!! ;)

Stenglein on Stevens sounds like a good idea.

I reckon Port will struggle to keep up with the Crows. Will be interesting to see how Port go without their no.1 Showdown player in Josh Francou.

At this very very early stage, im tipping Adelaide by 39 points.

Spot on & if that don't work get Nige to give him a haircut, the guy is burning up the turf & is the main pap player to tag now that Francou is out,

I have no doubt that Williams will [ & rightly so] use this game to bring back Michael Wilson for his return to AFL footy i also think Wilbur will receive a very warm welcome from Crow supporters when he comes off the bench late in the 1st quarter.

As generous as that sounds i very much antipate a tough tight affair, now with Port back to playing some good footy, either team could win. However maybe only because of the players port will be missing is what could bring them down but surely not by as much as 39.

Wouldn't be surprised if Port won either, but god i hope not again

It's finally here.
Thsi one could go either way, it's too early in the season to predict the importance of the game. Both sides have been in winning form with Stevens and Mcleod having terrific seasons.
We will miss the Showdown king Francou and may also be without Primus and Tredrea. But injuries shall effect both sides after Ricciuto pulls out with some mysterious illness and Carey does another hammy.
On a serious note I think if we can wrap up Mcleod and keep him quiet we should have a win, but a firing Mcleod will make Adelaide hard to stop.

On Showdown form Port by 18 points

so who wins?

I think that Ports form has been very good considering the number of key players that they had out. Apart from Round 1 trashing at the hands of West Coast, Port played some very good football.

Against Brisbane they could have won that and were in good form with a lot of key players missing. They won their next 2 reasonablty convincingly.

Port are a very good side and could get up to 5 of their regulars back in the side.

This truely is a 50-50 game. This could end up being a draw.;)

Imagine a showdown draw, that would be torture.

Im salivating already at the prospect of this Saturday nights game.

I would think Stenglein would match up on Stevens, and we need to closely watch the Burgoyne sisters :D, probably with Hart and Torney. Biglands and Clarke can match it with the Port rucks (Primus to have 1 more week off??)

Tredrea will be back but how is his match fitness, can he run the game out? as he seems to do a lot in defense as well as attack.

Positives for us are the fact that we've won our last 2 even though our form is down on the pre season form. Blockbusters like this always get more from both sides, I reckon our guys will play a better brand of footy than seen today. Our onballers were good today (Roo for his cameo at F/F, Bode and Bungy) hopefully they will be the difference between the sides.

Will Marsh get another run? I'd like to see Perrie back into the 22, as he gave us some venom in the wizzer cup game against Port. Ronnie Burns needs to play, he's too good to be playing SANFL, and he will demand a good defender.

Other than Perrie in and Marsh out, unchanged, subect to injury.

I don't think the margin will be 39 points ( is it the last 4 decided by less than 2 goals??), but I'll go Crows by 11 points.

I'm not feeling confident about this game & reckon it will be truely 50/50. Surely Macca19 your taking the p iss with your tip! With Primus in doubt, Tredrea underdone & perrenial BOG Francou out injured we appear to have more matchwinners ... but that means jack when coming to a showdown. Shut down the influence of Port's rucks, Stevens, James, Wanganeen & C Cornes, & we are a huge chance. Should be another great game - hopefully with the right result this time! ;)

Good.
Now I feel more confident :D

I actually hope we do not play Tredrea, Primus, Wilson, and that Salopeck gets "dropped" to the SANFL for at least a few weeks.

Having said that, I also feel confident enough to say that our current line up is (finally) slowly but surely starting to gel, and does have a good/very good chance of coming up with a win without any extra players.

Good physcology. Given its being played at night, the last 3 games have been decided by 8 points and the majority of showdowns have been decided by less than 2 goals (7 of 12) , it will be close.

Adelaide have not been in scintillating form but have won their games reasonably comfortably. But who have they beaten (West Coast were the best credentialled but still struggle away from home)?

Port are getting back on track but likewise who have they beaten (Hawthorn - the jury is still out on this side)? Put in a good performance against Brisbane. Port will miss Francou, who has won the last 3 Showdown BOG.

Interesting that the only 3 sides to win interstate are the two Adelaide sides plus Brisbane. Therefore top 3 at the end of the year but in what order.

To tell u the truth Im sh*t scared about this game...I think we can come away with the 4 points but only if we get off to a good start and play a good 4 quarters of footy.

fire up Crows supporters!!!

I think this is going to be a great game - like all Showdowns are. The last few games have all been close and I don't see this one being any different.

We can win and I think we will - fire up and lets get ready to have a terrific night at AAMI!

xx
