Over the next two weeks we'll be playing two sides (North and Richmond), both of whom have very tall forward lines.

I reckon M.Kennedy MUST be included, not only to help cover these talls, but also to allow greater options with our own tall players.

It's likely, that in both of these games, all three 'genuine' tall defenders (Michael, Leppitsch, Kennedy), will be needed on the park at once.

If North play Rocca, McKernan and another tall in the forward line, this will definitely be the case. Similarly, this will also be the case if Richmond have Richardson, as well as rotating Gale and Ottens and another tall forward.

There is no way, that I would leave Kennedy out for such games. He has looked pretty good, from what I've seen this year - he needs to be given a run - perhaps even in the starting 18.

It's no use using mid-sized players like White, Pike, Shattock, Bolton, etc. to cover genuine height. It's the likes of Leppitsch, Michael, AND Kennedy who should be given the job.

Yeah Olmy, I don't know whether he has been carrying an injury or whether he has fallen out of favour with the match committee, but I think that Matthew Kennedy is a vital part of the Lions defence, even with the inclusion of Mal Michael and Martin Pike. He is the player who can really keep the backline together.

He is also under rated, especially by some of the Lions own supporters, who do not see his importance in the side. Maybe this is because he doesn't take the glamourous marks and runs up the other end kicks goals, he does the team orientated thing. He in some ways reminds my of Danny Dickfos. You could never say that the way that Dickfos played the game was glamourous, and you certainly wouldn't have used used him as an ambassador of the game, but what could never be underestimated was his commitment to his club and to his fellow team mates. The same could be said about Kennedy.

The inclusion of Kennedy would also free up Leppitsch if he is needed to be put up in the forward line to give the lions a quick spark.

I agree with you guys in relation to Matt Kennedy being out of favour. He is not glamorous & not the most skilled player on the paddock, but you couldn't question his commitment. Him & Dickfos were the Mr. Reliables of the backline, maybe it's his age against him, the fact that he is not as quick as he was 5 years ago. I guess if they don't play him we won't know. It disappoints me to see a player in the twilight of his career be a bench warmer, but I suppose it's better than not being in the side at all.

Kennedy is lacking confidence at the moment. Coming off the bench is hard. I'd give him a game and start him and see how he goes. A fit Kennedy is a good player.
