Bit hard to get everything. List tights were tight and we targeted mids in the draft plus two forwards.

Maybe that may be something for next year.

It's the age of the list as well. Therefore we took two more kids than we usually do - that's the depth cut into.

I think our depth will be pretty good with Ryan, Harrison, Parker, Roan, Anderson, Hayes, West, Iliro, Oscar 1, Sully, Charlie, Joel, Reef and HDM, plus Tyan and Samuel.
I think we're in for a great year.
Can feel it in my bones. 💕

Having Nick on the list is such a massive win. The veterans will be sliding. We need bulk and games into likely youngsters. Nick needs support. Each of Nicks last two years have dropped off because of physical demands and injuries. Hopefully with another year complete he is able to step up even further. Go pies.

Forward mix from - McStay, Elliott, Schultz, Hill, JDG, West, Harrison, Membrey.
Midfield mix from - Naicos, Long, Houston, Perryman, McCreery, Allan, Crisp, Steele.
Wingers mix from - Lipinski, Sidebottom, Parker, Ryan, DeMattia, Swadling.
Backmen mix from - Moore, Frampton, Maynard, Jaicos, IQ, Howe, McInness, Pendlebury.
Ruckman mix from - Cameron, Buller, Steene.

Clearly lacking depth of class through the midfield and down the spine, but on balance I like the workman like mix of this group. Ideally Naicos, Moore, IQ, Maynard, Houston, Jaicos, Hill collectively push into AA squad contention.

Houston remains a tease; might he finally settle to become the 2nd classy midfielder we're desperate for to work in tandem with Naicos, as opposed to a brigade of otherwise 2nd class midfielders?

I hope Stafford can fast track Bullers ruck craft, as the prospect of Cameron going down could be a disaster.

Of the draftees, I can only see one laying claim to a 1st year debut, and that's Swadling. If he can match his existing skill set above the shoulders in application, he's genuinely one I'm eager to see get a handful of games off a wing.

I see Buller as a part of the forward mix more than being a ruckman, but he has the height to play both obviously.

In 2025 playing with injury, improvement;
Maynard
Naicos
Moore
Houston
McStay
Pendles
McCreery
Howe

Return from injury;
HH
Reef

Do something;
Ryan
TJ
HDM
Steene
Smit
Allan

New but Boom shake the room;
Haynes
Cochran
West
Steele
Saxena
Anderson
McCarthy
Prindable
Swadling
Buller

There are so many things that could be wonderful. Bring it on.

You’d think Buller 2nd rucks but that’s not something I’ve seen yet at training
I expect we'll do what most clubs are planning, play 3 mobile talls and 2 rucks rotating off the bench.

3 of McStay, Membrey, Buller, West and 2 of Cameron, Steene and Smit will play.

I like the options which would result in two young players at least getting games. Recent selections has a nice mobility feel about it.

If we had retained Coxy there would be an excellent back up waiting in the wings. I still don't understand why they delisted him.

We need to develop our young rucks. Cox was hindering their development and not really holding his own. It was time

Coxy on the list would mean that one is Steene, Smit, McCarthy or Buller would not be. Not all of those players will work out but they are very good options. Cox going is sad but it is how football lists work. At trade time 18 lists did not want him.

Oh god, please make it stop.

If our ruck depth is raised his name will always be mentioned. It's only logical. It's you who needs to take a Bex and lie down.
He plays for Freo reserves now.
Move on and get excited about the next generation.

And or Roo.
I like eating Roo, better than words. In Colorado Springs I drove past the New South Wales Restaurant 20 times. Aussie symbols everywhere. Specialty was a game menu. I had to ask. They could not accept anyone would eat their national emblem. Roo was not on the menu but rattlesnake was. Go figure.

Think I would rather eat snake than kangaroo. Not because they're an emblem but they're too gamey for my liking.
