Heard on the radio that Poyas was BOG today for the Coburg Tigers. After our humiliating loss in the 1's, Poyas should definitely get picked. Lets hope that Poyas gets a fair run to prove whether he can establish a position in the seniors. I think he has talent and needs to be given an extended run. Some others will also probably come up from the two's.

I do agree! We really need to do something about the middle of the ground.

Did anyone see the Coburg game today? I am particularly interested in how Poyas (BOG), Chaffey, Coughlan and Duncan did.

These are the ones we need to look to coming back into the side.

duncs didn't play , only saw the last quarter but coughlan did 3 or 4 good tough things .. His disposal needs some work though..

Also Vardy didn't play , not sure why but with him richo and homewood out that leaves six players over 190cms on our list avalible..brilliant

;)

The game was telecast on the ABC yesterday afternoon. Alas, where I live has very poor reception and I cannot get this channel!

There was a report in todays Sunday Herald Sun on the game yesterday. Pertinent excerpts are:

Poyas, Chaffey stake their claim by Howard Leigh

Richmond's match committee will find it difficult to ignore Ezra Poyas and Mark Chaffey at the selection table this week after yesterday's VFL opening round.

Poyas and Chaffey were the Coburg Tigers standout players in their 29 point win over Essendon at the Coburg City Oval.

...

Poyas, 21, last years joint Liston Trophy winner finished with 19 kicks, 15 marks and 5.5 from Centre Half Forward.

Chaffer, 24, whose Wizard Cup campaign was hampered by osteitis pubis gathered 30 possessions across half back.

Coburg coach Alan Richardson described the contributions by Poyas and Chaffey as outstanding.

Richardson said they would both be under consideration for Richmond's third round match against Melbourne on Saturday.

...

Oh, and when Poyas does play this week, please Spud can he play in the middle for the most of the game...

... not working hard keeping the pine warm!

I saw the Coburg game on telly to it was cool to be able to watch it and it was a good game n great that they won, must rember to watch Corburg when there on the telly.Poyas played very well n got best on ground so i think he should be in the seniors next week for sure.

From the official Richmond site:

"He played well on the weekend (kicking five goals) so he is straight in - the young fella," Frawley said of Poyas, who has played just six matches but did play in the Tigers’ preliminary final loss in Brisbane last year.

Poyas

Did he kick 5 goals 5 points ?
Hope when he does play he is more restrained and measured in his run and disposal.
Tends to get excited at the sight of the footy(Good Thing) but looses concentration in choosing right option for disposal.
Has to play in seniors on VFL performance, and a good midfield option, considering the demons are another with an abundance of midfield talent.
Interesting to see how innovative and creative the match ups will be this week ?????;)

Who do you think we will drop if Poyas is going to come back in?

After the Collingwood game it was hard to work out who to drop because everyone played so well.

After the Essendon game it is hard to work out who to drop because everyone played so poorly.

Doh!

Chaffey's inclusion will certainly be pending a tribunal decision on Ty Zantuck who has been reported for his hit on Caracella.

If Zantuck is rubbed, then Chaffey will be straight in.
