AFL Confirms total overhaul of competition
The AFL today confirmed that it will be overhauling all current AFL lists and will be doing a mega draft in which all current AFL players will enter. This overshadows news of Hawthorn FC moving to the Western Suburbs of Sydney and being rebranded as GWS.
It was also confirmed that the draft order would be as follows:
North Melbourne
Adelaide
St.Kilda
Sydney
Melbourne
Geelong
Port Adelaide
West Coast
Collingwood
Brisbane
Essendon
Fremantle
Carlton
Western Bulldogs
Richmond
Gold Coast
GWS
Then will be reversed for the following round


GWS Appoints Scully Wag as Coach
The unknown coach was today confirmed as the inaugral GWS coach.
"We are very pleased to have him on board," The GWS CEO commented, "He's an unknown within the AFL world but seeing him at local level we're confident he can take us very far."
THe new coach also had some words to say," It's a very exciting and daunting opportunity, being able to mould a club from the ground up. I'll be keeping the original Hawthorn coaching staff for now but may change in the near future.
When asked about his stratergy going into the mega draft Scully wag had this to say, " We'll largely be going for proven talent as well as exciting prospects, the main thing is that we nail our first 4 or 5 players as they're the ones that will really shape the team.


Midfielders Dominate first round selections
Of the 17 first round selections in the mega draft 16 were complete midfielders with the one player not classified as a midfielder being Chad Wingard at Selection 16 taken by Gold Coast, the first round really showed us how coaches want to go about building their new teams:

GWS early Draft Winners
GWS Coach Scully wag has stated that GWS are already winners from the draft claiming, "We've got a great mix from the draft, some promising young talent as well as some experience to keep the youngsters in check, this is exactly what I had planned going into the draft and I'm thrilled that we were able to get the personnel we did." Scully wag made these comments at a press conference confirming Adam Treloar and Michael Firrito are to be Captain and Vice-Captain respectably.

Adam Yze Sacked from GWS
Midfield Coach Adam Yze has been sacked from his position at the newly formed GWS Football Club and has been replaced by former Hawthorn Head Coach Alastair Clarkson. This comes days after new coach Scully wag publicly stated that he would be keeping the Hawthorn coaching staff

Disappointment for GWS
His first game in charge, Scully wag was quietly confident of a win against Brisbane. He shouldn't have been as all of Brisbanes stars were firing with their midfielders dominating around the ground the entire match. It was all overe by the first quarter as they were leading by 30. The 64 point loss means GWS bow out of the competition

Less than 3 days after their shocking performance aginst Brisbane, GWS FC have fired their youth development coach and have brought in Jacques Trible who is rated as one of the best in the compoeteiton. "It's a very exciting oppurtunity for me, GWs have a lot of young talent," Jacques said. GWS are currently training extra hard to make up for the matches they will miss

GWS Premiership favourites
After a shocking week 1 exit of the preseason competition the bookies have put GWS as premiershjip favourites at 1:1, putting more pressure on the under performing team. West Coast, Port Adelaide and Collingwood round out the top 4 favourites at 8:1
