Pick 17 - Sam Hayes - Richmond will be ecstatic if Naish does not get a bid before their first pick. So, to draft the best tall in the current draft fills their need for an elite forward/ruck. Hayes will assist Riewoldt and give Nankervis a break in the ruck. This is serendipitous for Richmond.

Pick 18 - Matthew Ling (182cm mid)

Has foot skills and pace. IMO we need a line breaking wingman. He fits the bill.

Probably need an inside mid, but I'll back Matheson and Berry to step up in this area next year. Robinson and Christensenwill be back too.

Well done Dom PC. Would love an eventual outcome of Dow + Higgins with Ballenden coming later on draft night. Might’ve gone Naish over Ling?
Thanks. Yeah, Naish was an option, but went for Ling since he is a Geelong Falcon boy (I think) and Naish would always have that great pull back to Melbourne.

Pick 19 - Charlie Constable (191cm, 86kg, inside mid/general defender)

I was looking to pick up a "pure" inside mid for the Suns and had a few names in mind that I was thinking of reaching for, but Constable fits the bill and is too good to pass up here. I think the Suns would be ecstatic if Constable was available at 19 on draft night, and I'd probably be questioning why we let him get past our picks at 15 and 18. Good skills, good vision, and has shown some positional flexibility in his game. From the videos I've seen, he looks to have good composure with the ball in hand and a good footy brain for picking out the best option. Seems to have the build to play next year, possibly starting as a defender before moving into the middle in the long run.

Rated at 15 by Knightmare and at 6 by Bishop, so looks a steal at 19.

irel you're up.

Pick 15 - Jack Higgins (178cm mid/SF)

Was tempted by Brander, but with Ballenden coming our way, I think it would be a mistake to miss out on a potentially good cruming forward/mid (which we need).

While we already have a few smalls in the team, but with Zorko turning 29 in Feb next year, my rational is Higgins potentially over takes Zorko by his 3rd/4th year.

Higgins would play as a permanent small forward for the first few years.

I would be staggered if higgins falls to us at 15... please happen!!!

Pick 20 -Sam Taylor WA (196/85 KPD)
Sam Taylor had an exceptional under-18 carnival down back for WA and the 18-year-old also earned All-Australian selection. He made his debut for Swan Districts WAFL seniors in round 19 and held his place for the remainder seven rounds, including two finals games. Drafting Hayes ensured Richmond's forward stocks going in to the future and with this selection we'll look to sore up defensive needs. Taylor IMO is potentially the best key position defender and for me it's a no-brainer pick.

He is small and with question marks.
Lewy Taylor fell to 28 after being rated much higher, anything is possible.

Really sorry guys for the late reply

Geelong pick 22:

Ed Richards

Quick player with great kicking skills. Geelong have quite a slow backline so could use a player like him.

Pick 23 North Melbourne.

James Worpel.

D.O.B:
24/01/1999
Height: 185cm
Weight: 85kg
Club: Geelong Falcons/Vic Country

21.4 Disposals
6.8 Tackles
49% CP
4.6 CLR

North need mids, like many other teams in this draft. Cerra at 4 represents the class, now Worpel represents the inside grunt.

Worpel already has a mature body, ready to go from round one. He's a pure contested midfielder, willing to put his head over the ball, or hunt the opposition and lay tackles that stick. He's not the perfect inside player, needing to work on his kicking and spread. However, some of his poor kicking comes down to just throwing the ball on to boot and looking for penetration rather than taking an extra second to identify a target.

My 2 cents

LDU
Constable
Ballenden
Payne (I reckon someone will bid on him, too good to pass up on), marking 200cm key position backs don't grow on trees, I do actually wonder if teams will put merit on Andrews sliding a couple of years back on this as a 'Hang on QLD'ers really can play good D'?

Sliders - O'Brien and Higgins (I can see him being passed on, wont make it to us obviously, but will be later IMO)

Richmond Pick 25 - Joel Garner - Position: Midfielder/Defender/Forward = Versatility with leadership qualities.

With the first two picks we looked after our KP front and defense and with our third selection it's time to look for some midfield depth. Garner will start initially as a defender learning the ropes off Rance and eventually move into midfield. A Hayes/Taylor/Garner haul for the Premiers is a bounty indeed.

Pick 25 - Zac Bailey. When I watched the Allies earlier this year, Bailey was the player who really stood out. Really eye catching midfielder. As I've looked more into him, the knock seems to be on his disposal which I can understand, but I'm happy to take a punt on that here at 25 considering everything else he brings to the table. Would be happy if the Lions ended up taking him at 18, so think he's good value here for West Coast.

Pick 26 : Charlie Ballad

Like my first round pick this one is based on a high ceiling but comes with some risk.

Ballad has had a big growth spurt and has played as a winger with almost KPP height. Unknown whether he will fill out but as a good ball user for his height could develop into a third type defender with above average skills or as a nightmare wingman who would be almost impossible to match up on.

Pick 27: Gryan Miers

Probably a bit early but 7 goals in a grand final is hard to ignore. Foot skills aren't probably as good as they need to be, has had comparisons to Milne but I'm unsure about that. Tested well at the combine and as he combines goals (50), tackling pressure and some above average athletic ability (3rd in the 2km) could prove to be a real match winner
