Carlton

Pick 62 - Kym LeBois (175cm, 68kg small forward from SA)

Carlton need a small forward. Kym is a full time small forward at the moment, so that "decreases" his draft value, however he suits Carlton's needs as a small forward with pace.

Gary Buckenara has LeBois in his top 25. Could be a smokey.

Pick 64 - Collingwood

Tyson Stengle

There's still a bunch of guys left on my board (when I say board I actually mean hastily convened spreadsheet) who I've got ranked in the 30s, but I was looking to add a slippery, crafty small forward with my last pick. Luckily there's a plethora of guys who fit the bill - Ben Jarman, Willie Rioli and Ben Long. Long especially was one I nearly went for given his versatility, but I really liked what I saw of Stengle during the champs. Actually outside Ainsworth, he's probably up the top of the list so far as small forwards go from what I've seen (which I don't claim to be a lot).

In Stengle, I see a guy who can get front and centre, is well-balanced and who moves across the ground well. He doesn't get it a heap (such is the nature of the role), but when he does he generally makes it count either on the scoreboard or by setting up play in the forward half. I've no idea how his testing went at the combine, but in a game sense his first 5 steps are explosive and enough to get him enough clearance to dispose of the ball which is generally all he needs. The other thing is that he seems to have good strength through the legs and core as he's pretty adept as shrugging a tackle.

Not that it really matters, but I was reading today he's the nephew of Mick O'Loughlin, however he's more along the lines of Charlie Cameron. Not to oversell him, but he also has a Cyril-like blind turn. Watch his highlights package and I guarantee you'll be impressed.

Essendon

Pick 67 - Sam Walker

A mid defender who has a very nice kick coming out of the backline. Did a good job on Will Haywood on the SANFL u/18 finals. Shuts down defenders first before looking to get the ball out with footskills.

Essendon will need bigs next year but I'm not overly impressed with this years crop and utilising this draft for McCluggage, Bolton, Cox, Atley and Walker gives a nice spread of mid/small forward/medium defenders.

Melbourne pick 68

Jonty Scharenberg:
DOB: 28/8/98 Ht: 184cm Wt: 81kg Glenelg

Brother of Collingswood's Matthew. Inside midfielder who is smooth mover and great decision maker with the footy and backs all that up with clean hands. The knock on him has been he's speed but he uses it so well. Credit goes to Glenelg senior coach Matt Lokan
