Don Barry perhaps?

I have us taking Lawler in my mock TLL. Let me know if you think there is anything else that I should mention or if I have anything wrong.

Jack Lawler (Morningside, QLD)
Height: 175, Weight: ?, DOB: 10/8/87

I do not really know much about this guy but I am taking a very positive recommendation from thoselionslads and putting him in here. Jack is a short indigenous guy capable of playing at either end who has elite pace and very good skills. He was unfortunate enough to break his leg just before the finals which has kept him even more under the radar than he otherwise might be. Prior to breaking his leg he was in fantastic form and being talked about in AFLQ circles as a definite chance to find his way onto a list next year. Apparently there is at least one team who are very interested in him. He is very highly rated within Morningside and his coach apparently puts him right up there on talent with Armitage and Urquart who he coached. Playing off half back Lawler provides great run and carry and he uses his pace to great effect. Wherever you see anything about Lawler there is also a mention of his “silky skills” and his ability to hit targets in the best position sets his team up. He has been around for a few years and has nominated the last few without getting picked up but he has continued to improve. In a year where there seems a lot of candidates under 180cm being looked there is no reason why I think Lawler might not be another. He was selected in the AFLQ Team of the year as a HBF. Realistically he is more of a rookie selection but you never know.
Great Work:thumbsu:

Can you say if this person's diet consists mainly of potatos and Guinness?

He is a PNG guy and like Carlton did with Labi he is eligible to be an international rookie. TLL has said that we are looking to sign another international rookie and a few of us has speculated that it could be Don. Personally I had nothing to base the guess on other than the fact that I had heard some pretty good reviews and thought we could do a lot worse than give him a chance.

Hey Quigley who will you pick with the last 3 in the phantom draft? I noticed Andrew Hooper hasn't been picked up nor Duryea or Sean Tighe . What's your thoughts?

Should b interesting drafting a player who does not want to play out of vic, along with fev(we all know what he is like)and brown as capt, then add voss, could be great, but also could so backfire...

I can neither confirm or deny that the player I am referring to is Don Barry;)

Just out of curiousity, can you deny it's, say, Tadgh Kenneally, Johnny Wilkinson or Kobe Bryant? ;)

Fixed.
And how do we know what Fev is like playing outside Victoria? Am I missing something is Brisbane his 3rd club?

Clearances are needed at Brisbane mroe than speed.

Greg Williams was real quick- NOT!!! And he used to get the ball a bit. Same with Terry Wallace.

People shouldn't equate speed with pace over the ground- the ability to get the ball and to deliver efficiently is the trick.

spot on Tassie. We lacked support at getting our hands on the ball, probably due to having a younger team this year, its hard to get the smaller bodies in to get the ball.

The ball still travels faster in the air by kick than it does being carried. We are a team that likes to kick the ball twice then kick for goal, not have 15 hand balls and run it to 40 and have a shot. ANYONE that can get first hands to the ball then kick it 30m and hit a target will be of huge benefit to us next year.

To mine this makes it more likely that Ball will go to the bombers.

I ended up taking Sewell who I thought was the best inside option available and could be a very good player much like his brother.

For the last two picks I was always going to take Qlders and I went with McCauley and Milani being a ruck and a key position. If I had not gone with those two the guys who I would have looked at would have been Sumner, Grimes, Hicks and maybe Gavin Roberts. Hooper, Duryea and Tighe are all thereabouts.

I really like the look of Hooper for some reason. Maybe to make amends on Rhan. I also like Dennis-lane he look's good, will be happy if we picked him up.
Anyway good job Quigley must have taken alot of time to do the phantom draft.

I know it's a what if kind of thing to ask but who would we have taken if we still had pick 12???

Depends... if Hendo was still gone, perhaps we'd look at Talia or Black as a replacement.

Otherwise... maybe Melksham, Stevens, Jetta...
