My interest is in how we defend our aggressive gameplan against the best teams. We can defensively account for the skill errors against the poorer teams but how that goes against the better teams we will see. We did well against the dees a fortnight ago I suppose.

In any event, I think this season has been a resounding success in terms of how quickly we have adapted to the new gameplan. A lot of players have elevated their game.
I think after the 2024 season there was no way we would have beaten North playing our old style.
I am glad they made the change. It may not be enough, but i think it gives us a chance now and not only against North.

We are still a great tackling team so that part has not changed.
Turnovers hurt all teams in the way the game is played at AFL and AFLW level.
They need to produce some good footy and hopefully make the GF.

I have a hunch North could be more "gettable" in a Prelim than a GF (think Bombers '99; Tigers '18), so a loss this week and having to go the long way, via the Roos, may not be the end of the world in the premiership quest. They are a country furlong ahead of everyone else but

2. Brisbane

The AFLW powerhouse and last year’s runners-up took time to get going this season but have won seven matches in a row since being defeated by North Melbourne in round five. The 29-point margin is the closest any side has come to beating the Roos this year, while the Lions remain a threat with their ability to control possession and the tempo of the game, as well as to step up when their backs are to the wall.

Star power: Sophie Conway
The two-time All-Australian is often the critical link in the Lions’ chain with an ability to find the ball in space and use her running and silky skills to open up the opposition, while being a goal threat on her own.

I am not proud of myself but I haven’t watched one AFLW game so far this year.
Just been so busy after the Men’s season has finished.
And I generally don’t mind a bit of a break from footy after the men’s season is over.
Hopefully will get a chance to get on board now that Finals will be underway.
Do the Women get a week off after the regular season?

It would take a AFLW mandate for players to leave North to play for another Victorian team, otherwise nobody good will leave.

The AFL would NEVER put their thumb on the scale like that!

The biggest short term risk for the AFLW is not bringing Norf back to the pack. They simply haven’t been levelled out to the extent of the other OG clubs.

This is SO DISRESPECTFUL. You are as disgraceful as those HAWTHORN losers who didn't pay homage to Jas the Great.

On the AFLW Show today they said Taylor Smith is being chased by Essendon Sydney and Hawthorn.
She is contracted till end of 2026. Also said the Lions are looking at signing her beyond next season.

Good. Hopefully we can keep her at the club
