Brisbane Lions F.C. - A Footballing Nursery

The Brisbane Lions are a nursery for other clubs. The way to fix the problem is not through 10% extra salary cap...but through priority selections in the draft.

The decision by Wayne Jackson & the AFL this year to take away our priority pick was the most short sighted decision ever made by the AFL. What makes it worse, is that the AFL beleived a priority pick should be available to Brisbane and Sydney. In fact, they were going to provide us with 2 priority picks.

Not many of us are fond of past administrators from the AFL. However, one thing I will give them, is that they were willing to take a stand, implement what they believed in, and not buckle under the pressure from club presidents. More than I can say for Wayne Jackson.

In a word Jackson....pi$$weak.

Right on the money.. some people seem to think two years of success are going to make players want to come here and stay here.. It'd be .. success is fleeting and we all know that when failure rears its ugly head again the position we're in will once again become precarious..
I've expressed this sentiment elsewhere but I'll reiterate.. Salary Cap concessions obviously aren't the answer.. the answer was stripped away from us in the form of the priority pick/zone setup..
The AFL holds forums on god knows what nowdays.. surely one to address the real disparities between victorian and interstate football wouldn't be too much of an ask..
