Squiggle tips Demons at 77% chance -- What's your tip? -- Team line-ups »
We have the really important ones signed up,
Zielke arguably more important than Ashmore/McCarthy as a midfielder (they're as much forwards as mids), but that was my thinking too.Do we?
Our three most important midfielders (Bates, Ashmore and McCarthy) are still unsigned I think.

Also most of our important defenders (Virgo, Kaslar, Hildebrand, Lutkins).
BRISBANE women’s CEO Bree Brock says it is “disappointing” but not “surprising’’ that high-profile forward Tayla Harris has requested to leave the Lions.
Harris was the first signing for the club’s groundbreaking women’s team and quickly became one of the faces of the entire AFLW competition.
The Maroon-grown 20-year-old was one of Brisbane’s two marquee players after rising to prominence with spectacular goals and marks in the series of exhibition games in the years leading up to the AFLW.
She featured in official Brisbane merchandise and was also given a job at the Lions working in the communications and community areas.
Harris provided some highlight-reel moments during Brisbane’s campaign but outside of a starring role in the Round 2 win over Fremantle, failed to fire on a consistent basis.
Her indifferent personal form culminated with a quiet performance in the losing grand final side when she did not touch the ball until after halftime.
Brisbane are in negotiations with Carlton about a trade and have until May 25 to seal a deal.
“It’s certainly disappointing but Tayla has always wanted to try her hand in Melbourne so it’s not surprising to us,’’ Brock said.
“We were hoping that the success the team had this year and the friendships that she formed might be enough to keep her here.
“But Tayla requested a trade and we are now exploring our options … we are hoping to get it done in the next few days.
“It (the trade with the Blues) will have to be worth our while and hopefully they can meet us halfway.’’
Brock said the Lions would never completely close the door on the chance of Harris returning to Brisbane.
“She’s a young girl and the grass is not always greener on the other side,’’ she said.
“We would not rule out the possibility of having her back one day.’’
Yeah it was a pretty unimpressive list.
How is the deal with Calrton going to work? They've already traded away all their decent draft picks. I imagine it'll be a little difficult to get players to leave Melbourne and head north.
Most importantly, is Sam Virgo sticking around?

We might get the hovercraft
Players not picks it seems then. Still difficult to see us getting anything decent out of this.

But ... but! What about our narrative of top level talent wanting to leave the Lions?Correct. Starcevich and Brock are all about the pure team ethos. It's what got us to the grand final this year.
No room for "me first" types. There is plenty of Queensland talent coming through.
Melbourne look to have emerged as a serious player for Tayla Harris' services after the Brisbane Lions turned down Carlton's offer for the marquee forward.
Harris wants to move to a Victorian club and has requested a trade to the Blues. The Lions are willing to deal with Carlton, however it's understood they have requested Jakobsson as well as one other player. Forward Jakobsson - taken at pick three in the inaugural women's draft - is open to a move to Queensland, however Carlton have offered only Jakobsson, with the Lions insistent the Blues provide another player.
The situation has been complicated by renewed interest from the Demons, who are understood to have tabled an offer to the Lions for Harris on Thursday. Harris played for the Demons in exhibition football before the inaugural AFLW season.
The Blues have already been players in the trade period, obtaining Collingwood best and fairest Nic Stevens in exchange for three draft picks. Brisbane, however, aren't expected to be involved other than in relation to Harris.
The Pies could lose their best and fairest runner-up too, with Alicia Eva asking for a trade to Greater Western Sydney. It's understood Eva wants to play in Sydney for non-football reasons. However in positive news marquee ruck Emma King has recommitted to the club.
The trade period ends next Friday.
Jacobsson is a pretty decent player to turn down.

The article said that Carlton only wanted to swap Jacobsson and we wanted another player as well.Jacobsson is a pretty decent player to turn down.

I read somewhere that she was willing to do the move, but Lions wanted a second player and Blues refused. So the lions walked away from Jacobsson for Harris. Given they could get nothing for her, thats pretty ballsy. Given what they could get I would have jumped at Jacobsson. We didn't turn her down. The article specifically states we requested her.
