What are you on about?..and the feelings mutual. Keep your vindictive Voss bashing to yourself, while I'm at it.
..god, get over the GF losses...it will make you a miserable person for the rest of your life.
Let it go man.
The Voss recruiting decisions did hamper your salary cap which forced guys like Richitelli, Brennan and Henderson to leave which in turn made you a younger set back list and possibly (it's a tentative stretch) made leaving Brisbane a trendy thing to do.
If Voss had done an apprenticeship and then had an experience head of footy (not named Gubby Allen) in charge of recruiting this could've been much different. You would've had more success on field and be in a better off field circumstance.
But it's not Voss' problem it's the problems of those who ran the club. You could even say Leigh Matthews should've orchestrated a proper exit plan as well, that might've helped.
Yeah and enough of Victorian clubs avoiding Travelling interstate more than 5 times one year 3 another...

Once you give up all your Friday night and Saturday night free to air fixtures, 2 games against Collingwood per year and opening game of the year then no one will mention power or rich in teh same form of Carlton and that will be great.
Yep you could ..Riscitelli was already going to GC17 prior to any Fev trade..I use to sit with his parents at games in Vic....Prior to the end of the 10 season Brisbane got wind of Brennan also being poached and asked the AFL on clarification of taking 2 players from the one club so Brisbane was also aware both were going down the road...Rumour at the time, GC had offered Brennan $700k a season...Henderson wanted to return to Victoria and asked his then manager, Ricky Nixon, to be part of the Fev deal, he still a year on his contract so probably would have returned at end of his contract ..Bradshaw wanted a 2 year deal and was only offered 1.. injury was a concern...(failed the Carlton medical) and played a handfull for Sydney.
Massive massive issue its destroying clubs like GC,Syd,Freo,Port,Ade
Voss' crimes were but one aspect of your current malaise . Getting some joker in as CEO, who didn't understand AFL, didn't understand the city was another. A fractured board that heavily politicked was another.
And you're based in a city that doesn't care for the club nor the game. I lived there for 5 yrs. I had a bit to do with Gubby. Ask him what he thinks the issues are with Brisbane. He won't be as polite as I'm being.
Never mentioned it would destroy clubs..nice deviation... talking equalization....and pointing out it's not possible when all the variables aren't equal...some clubs don't travel as much as others...Clubs don't play all clubs twice....Why do we include some VFL records in a national AFL league and not others?..uneven draws Brisbane finished below the Eagles but for some strange reason known only to the AFL got a much harder draw...
This is incredibly true. It's not that people don't care about AFL in Brisbane, they're just not really interested in general. Sure the Broncos have support, but it's no way near the level of significance as in Melbourne or Sydney. The only time I see people getting excited about anything in a sporting sense is state of origin.I would argue the last 2 CEOs never understood the game. One of then tried again with the Roar and was shown the door there too!
Regarding the city not caring for the game, its easy to say that when comparing it next to Melbourne where the game is culturally significant. Ive lived in Brisbane for 25 years but I cant say Rugby League or Union have that same level of cultural significance compared to footy in Melbourne or League in Sydney.
I wish one day it will be different and that footy would one day be as warmly embraced. But I can never see clubs like Grange, Western Magpies, Kenmore having the samecommunity pulling power and culture as clubs in Victoria have on their communities.
Collingwood finished 8th which by the AFL fixture rulings we are suppose to play middle tier clubs twice
We play the premiers twice I can't tell you the last time we have played GSW,BRIS,GC,WB,STK,MEL more then once in a season how's that fair?

Yeah, sure no probs...as long as we get the 1.4 million financial assistance that the AFL gave you, plus the assistance in getting Paul Roos as a coach, plus the extra $400,000 per year you get as part of the new equalisation measures.
No probs. Happy to give up all that. Wouldn't care if Carlton played Ganmain Grong Grong or Collingwood as long as they won against whoever is put in front of them. The AFL assistance will help you more than Carlton's financial gain of playing Richmond twice a year. Anyway, next year I expect Carlton to playing double the amount of games against bottom 6 sides..so who knows you may get your scheduling wish next year.
So you're in agreement....there is no such thing as equalization..it's a farce...uneven draws, by way of design, the competition is geared around the large Victorian clubs.. don't have to travel as much as it's bang for buck value to the AFL..
How do you expect the Vic clubs to travel as much as the intestate clubs?
How is it possible?

I used to cause a lot of angst up there during their SOO. I'd say go down to Melb, multiply your SOO by 2 and that was every week in footy season in Melb. They never believed anything could be as big as their SOO. I just used to laugh.I would argue the last 2 CEOs never understood the game. One of then tried again with the Roar and was shown the door there too!

And I'm sure if the Melb clubs could get the same recompense by an interstate venue as Hawthorn do, then you'd get quite a few agreeing. But Hawthorns deal is unique and probably never to be matched. Hawthorn don't do it for the good of the game. They do it for the good of their gain.Hawthorn manage to play home games interstate usually against interstate clubs...

Who love XXXX! SO SAYETH THE KING OF QUEENSLAND!The Curious Snail has a lot to do with that.
Saturation coverage weeks before and after the event(s) that not only feeds off but reinforces rabid parochialism, thereby whipping up the local masses in a frenzy of Us versus Them fervor. NSW players are portrayed as mass murdering, cheating, whinging, foul and soul-less bounders and cads whilst the glorious Maroon soldiers are pure-hearted, free-spirited men of undoubted integrity who devote their spare time to helping old ladies cross the street and visiting dying cancer patients.
The "popularity" of SOO is a product of the Media more than the "spectacle" itself.
IMO, it's actually created a rather unhealthy imbalance in the Qld sportsfan's mindset. It's as though everything else in the sporting landscape has faded into relative obscurity.
Most of the population has been brainwashed into believing that the only way they can be truly fulfilled and happy is if the brave Queensland RL warriors vanquish the NSW infidels year after year.
It's a worry.
I never copped too much abuse.Haha, id be happy to join you on that. This has been the first time in about 3 years Ive watched a SoO game. I have often walked around wearing either an AFL top or Liverpool guersney and let the homophobuc slurs come straight me.
Rugby and League lovers not the classiest of people in Brisbane
All you need to do is compare how much you travel compared to say the dogs and you'll see how inequitable it is
Hawthorn manage to play home games interstate usually against interstate clubs...
The idiots don't understand this simple concept. They want to kill the goose that laid the golden egg, feel happy they killed it and then wonder why there has been a degeneration of their income stream. Some just don't get it.Pies don't sell home games Dogs do
We play 5 away do you just want the Pies to play interstate teams all season if we do that you pour clubs won't get as big of a equalization cheque at seasons end
