Another Pies supporter who can't get past the early 2000's

Here was me thinking your passionate support of extra assistance for the lions was selfless. Surely you wouldn't be a Sydney supporter with motives as transparent as glass.

And what about supporters of Victorian clubs who (mostly) agree with him?

They do need help but as far as I'm concerned they were given 3 flags so they can go and get farked.
Hmm I hope the lion fan taking shots at me the other day reads this! Three on a platter, if that wasn't enough to make them a success in the state, then let them fold. Time for them to hold their own or bye bye,

If footy can't survive in Qld without props it should not be there, give it to Tassie, and WA is a bloody big place, let them have another one!

Is there any one player who is more valuable to their team and does more for their team than Tom Rockliff? Obviously Brisbane got pumped tonight, but 45 disposals, 13 clearances, 6 rebound 50s and 12 tackles is an immense effort. Averaging 29 disposals, 6 clearances, 4 rebound 50s and 9 tackles per game, and sits at #3 in the Champion Data Player Rankings (behind Gary Ablett and Scott Pendlebury) as well.

Your dead right we can't, we were ****ing robbed by the $650,000 extra in their salary cap, and 2 ****ing awful umpire decisions in the last few minutes.

We don't want an advantage, we just want an even playing field. A fair chance at winning, how you gunna feel if cola robs you of back to back this year?walk in my shoes before you judge me

And it's not just Victorian supporters, check out the post from the WA and SA supporters. You know, the other states where AFL can be king WITHOUT premierships being handed to them on a platter

Melbourne lost a heap of players, but it was because we were a poor footy club.

The same thing is now happening to Brisbane, but they've already won three games so they're not that bad. It will be good for them to spend a half a decade on the bottom, the club needs to realize that the AFL have stopped waving their magic wand for them. Eventually they'll work out that they'll have to do it for themselves.
Where is those big hands clapping when you need em

Eddie McGuire was the driving force behind it. He's one of the biggest hypocrites in the world, that scumbag. Think of all the poaching his club has undertaken over the years, in some cases even to the detriment of Brisbane (namely Nathan Buckley)
You could actually argue that was to the detriment of bucks!

The AFL is caring for "Melbourne" poor clubs more than Brisbane and other interstate clubs.

I mean we always hear how bad the deals for some Melbourne clubs at Etihad Stadium.

Do we hear how bad the Sydney/Brisbane deals are at SCG & Gabba in the 1990-2000s.

Adelaide & Port getting 50k & only making $35k

You do realise you're talking to a Hawthorn supporter?
A supporter who sat (not watched) through the 2012 GF with his head in his hands
A supporter who watched arguably the best player at our club go to a club that has extra allowances
I know all about losing grand finals and more to a club that aren't on the same playing field.

I also know how to differentiate playing fields: The on-field and off-field. You do not.

Oh the same extra salary cap that was afforded to all clubs provided they had a certain percentage of their list from their home state? If it was such an advantage why didn't all clubs start bringing in more interstate players so that they could take advantage of the cap space?

We don't want an advantage, we just want an even playing field.

A level playing field would be the teams from NSW and Queensland being able to have team lists where they can have a similar percentage of their list from their home state as teams from other states do, while still having competitive lists. How do we achieve this level playing field?

Never should have sacked voss

He had them playing decent footy, and they were on the up

What is needed, a complete overhaul of their administration, including the entire coaching department
I'd go as far as offering up the team for sale to the qld government

ROFL if you knew anything about the Queensland political climate you'd understand that the government is in the midst of flogging off government assets

Anyway back to the football conversation

That Lions team who strolled onto the ground today without upsetting anyone is the worst ive seen for a few years.

Yep. It poked this thread into existence. It's not good at all.

Enlighten us then.

I think that could be the plot of the next Mission Impossible, someone trying to educate a Collingwood supporter about footy.

I do realise they're not all morons but it seems that quite a few that are, as evident in this thread.

We need off field help. Something similar to what Port did 2 years ago and the AFL did for Melbourne last year. That will be the first step.

We also need money to invest in the club. This will help retain and develop the young talent (which there is plenty of) on this list and also attract quality footballers. Then eventually we'll start performing, actually make money and then hopefully use it wisely to set the club up.

We've been run very poorly for many years now. The AFL have turned a blind eye because they were clearly very happy for the Lions to struggle. They then brought in the expansion teams which have ****ed us over. Fortunatley Gil realises we're a big issue for the AFL and will start to help us.

It would also be good if opposition supporters realised that there are many disadvantages the Lions face; mainly due to being broke and in Queensland. To make up for this we need some advantages like our academies. This is a big part of equalisation so the rich clubs aren't the only ones around in 10-20 years as the poorer clubs die off.

I went out tonight and had fun with my friends.

Was a much better time than what I usually do most Saturday nights sitting on the couch watching my side get pummeled.

Yes I did realize. And in 2012 they didn't have buddy, you did. But the still had a bigger cap.

As for the on off field it doesn't matter, one does not equate to the other, or we or west coast would win every year! In 2002 that extra $650,000 would have bought another Buckley, and Buckley was worth 9points in any game. Sydney won their first final with Hall, who should have been rubbed out for thumping someone, but the rigged AFL knew the swans would not win it without him. It's all bullshit. How about the umpiring favouring teams? They are just about choosing winners at times this year. You can't tell me Adelaide fans arnt aggrieved that the peptide bombers got over the line today with an obvious hit the post!
