Brisbane Team of the 21st Century

Harris..
He is the first defender I selected.
As I raised last year, his defensive spoiling and intercepting marking, his ability to read the play, he is exceptional.
Although back 6 arguably a bit tall, Leppas run and carry, his versatilityenables him to play on a back flank.

Oscar - maybe a bit premature. However after careful consideration, I believe his 2020 season was the best of a Brisbane ruckman in the past 20 years.
it is not surprising he was so well recognised at the club championship dinner this week.
He destroyed Grundy this year, a player on a $7m deal.

I love the Big O and really rated his season, but if we are looking at careers to date, I don’t think there is any way he can be considered over Keating or Martin. Hopefully we can revisit this in a few years time and comfortably say Oscar belongs unequivocally as the number one ruck.

This was a bit harder than I thought it would be. I bolded the guys who I believe are obvious locks in the as well.

Chris Scott Harris Andrews Chris Johnson
Daniel Rich Justin Leppitsch Darryl White
Jason Akermanis Michael Voss (c) Nigel Lappin
Luke Power Jonathon Brown Dane Zorko
Daniel Bradshaw Alistair Lynch Charlie Cameron

Followers:
Clarke Keating Simon Black Lachie Neale
Int:
Brad Scott Ash McGrath Martin Pyke
Mal Michael*

Coach: Leigh Matthews

*It was hard not to select Michael somewhere, not the best interchange player but would be invaluable if there was an injury to a KPP. Also could play a full defensive role replacing Chris Scott and allow Andrews more freedom.
Notes:
I think Charlie would be unbelievably electric roving to Lynch, Bradshaw and Brown.
Zorko may have won a pretty decent amount of B&Fs but I don't believe he was as good as the other guys in the MF. Still a dangerous forward flank IMO.
Rich's kicking from HBF makes him almost a lock IMO.

I'd agree that Harris is starting to push Michael out of the full back spot now. Two AA's is probably now enough to get that done and you can imagine he is going to keep adding to that.
Neale also probably moves off the bench to starting on field. Depends on how you had them lined up but he either pushes Zorko to a flank or someone like Rocky to the bench

Think you need to replace Beams with Andrews on the bench mate. Harris has had much more of a positive impact on our club. 2X AA also.

Thoughts?
Ashcroft back in, Rockliff out. Ashcroft is on the bench, Neale is starting 18 at RR.

Would you have Beams in over Rocky Dave? Don't mind the Ashcroft inclusion as the first Queenslander to hit 300 games.

TBH neither. Beams' best days were at Collingwood and Rocky was more of a fantasy favourite than any real threat. Rocky was effective defensively but slow as treacle. I think Beams edges Rockliff with class. I reckon next year we will be comfortable slotting Lyons into that list.

That's got to be close to AFL team of the 21st century lol and imagine 4 Brownlow medallists in the same team!
