Who will win this premiership of mediocrity in 2011???

Though I feel the next 5 years will not be much fun it should be remembered the lions have some quality matchwinners in their side. I predict they will beat Essendon no matter which ground, the Gold Coast in both meetings, and would account for West Coast at home and be close away. In a round robbin of these sides I would declare the lions as winners.

The rest of the games are a real lottery however. Essendon could pull some wins from no-where, Gold Coast may show some spirit even though I feel the lions may lift when playing them. West Coast I really dont see much there at all next year.

I predict (attempting objectivity) that the Lions will finish highest of the sides mentioned.

What about you?

Call me bias but I expect Essendon to finish above those 3 clubs. Not much higher but on top of anyway.

Dont forget we still won 7 or 8 games in a diabolical year, there is no reason to suggest we will suddenly drop off from that. We havent lost any key players, they are all young.

I'm with Dave. It wouldn't take much for us to improve and that would see us finishing above all of those sides. Even then a top 8 finish would be a pleasant surprise, it's just the other sides are worse.

Smash Brisbane??? Not according to the last time they met in Melbourne. I would guess Essendon will beat more teams higher than them on the ladder next year but I doubt the lions are going to get smashed by teams just as ordinary as they are in 2011.

List the top 5 players between their two lists and Brisbane have at least 4 of them. Even with the departures the lions will not be worse in 2011 than they were in 2010 (not that they will be much better) barring Brown missing for most of the season.

Which 4 would they be. I came up with Black, Power and Brown...then ran out of names that haven't gone to Gold Coast.

And Fev. Rich is better than any of the Bomber young mids, Adcock is still quite good, Leuenburger and Clark are very good, Matt Maguire is good and Rockliff and Banfield are guns.

Fev was a liability for much of last season. Adcock is a handy player, Maquire is solid at best and the others are talented kids.

I think people have written off Fev too quickly. I expect the best pre season he has ever had followed by an improved year. Not his peak but a year that would have him placing very highly in the Bombers BnF.

I wrote him off after 10 years of being a lazy bugger who kicked a lot of goals then 1 year of not playing much, being a lazy bugger, and not kicking very many goals at all.
How long's the deal he's on?

I'd be amazed if more than 1 or 2 of Black, Brown, Fev, Charman & Power were playing by the end of the year.
Out of those names I would expect Charman and possibly Power to retire at the end of the season. Not sure if you meant retiring or injured but I'm not sure why Brown and Fev wouldn't be there at the end of the year....save for an off fied scandal of course.
