Brisbane better, margin was a bit rough. Definitely had the rub of the green from the umps.

But we make some awful mistakes at key moments.

We have gone backwards from last year, not sure if it’s personnel are not working as hard or the game plan isn’t working but we are a far cry from last season.

dropping the ball in the tackle is legit in AFLW, it seems
Pay a free kick to Brisbane for "hanging on" when sh just drops the ball in the tackle, then extremely reluctant to pay a free to O'Dea who was slung to the ground after handballing it away.

Feels like we're 2-3 mids away from being able to win these games regularly.

We really lack classy link players. Goody is probably the only one we have in that mould but theres a lot of pressure on her to fulfil that role when shes the main outside threat.

Even from the recent draft, Paterson is again that bigger slower type, she was really, really bad today. Sowden doesnt look speedy or outside class. Then you could even say the same again with Young by the looks, she was also really bad today but has a decent excuse. These types though just arent the type to address our gap.

Tahau, Matilda, Woodland, Heads, Borg, Germech, Teakle, Houghton are all contest winning talls, a few of them absolutely elite at the contested ground balls. Theyre literally critical to us. But bomb it to their area and hope they'll win key 50/50s all day isnt a really gameplan built for consistent success.

Brooksby is in a similar vein as another quasi tall, but has had a disappointing 2nd year so far. We will need Young and Brooksby to develop into key/elite players for us over the next couple years.

So again the problem is that outside of Dowrick and Goody we're not really talking about any of our ground level players being critical. Maybe Window will come on but with Dowrick and Window again youre talking combative types, not accumulating inside out types.

Syme has been ok across half back, and O'Dea similarly plays her role well. Mules and Pope at times have moments. But theres not much beyond that.

We play a high pressure game which works ok, but teams still open us up and hurt us on the outside or with rebound from half back as attacking half backs keep killing us.

Moloney, Boag, Hammond, Sowden, Paterson, Window are the types we need to improve the position or have them develop dramatically for us to take the next step.

Brook is probably our weakest link as a KPP in todays 22, but shes looks a good long term option. Similar to Gaunt whose shown something. So theres definitely depth there in the kpps. We just need to find that improvement within our group of smalls.

By far the safest thing you can do when tackled is to drop the ball.
But you have to make it look like the ball “jolted free” in the tackle.
Better still if you can make it look as if it’s “jolted free” straight into the hands of a teammate running past at full speed, as long as they’re only about a metre away.

I honestly believe the draw you get in this competition is a major factor to your finishing position.
I’m not into the woman’s game but from what I can tell we’ve been pretty competitive.

Sounds like most of the games in our 4 seasons in AFLW.
