The game was almost a carbon copy of the 1997 grand final. St Kilda kicked away in teh second but got thumped after half time

Essendon took over in 2001 but got thumpe after half time

uncanny that!!

Macca, this is better. Adelaide were claimed to have 'fluked' it. (not so IMO).

There is no doubt about Brisbane this year.

yeah im not talking about the whole finals series thing
im talking about the one game, and how it was played, and the way things turned a few minutes into the third quarter.....very uncanny

Brisbane were the best team through the 1999 season.
They had a % of 145 - that means for every 100 points their opponent scored - they scored 145.

There 1999 side, was very similar to their side this Year, I think Brisbane of 2001 was way better than Adelaides of 1997.

Because the Bulldogs were the best side in 1997, Adelaide just fluked the whole series!

Bulldogs choked in the Prelim, you have to admit it. They threw that game.

And handed the CROWS their first premiership.

My only GF attendance.. thanks WB for the memories :)

What's all this crap about Adelaide fluking the 97 premiership?? :D :(

Just because the Bulldogs are chokers x box x, no need to denigrate the back to back premiers of 97,98. :D

All I'll say is that it's very hard to win two flags in a row in the AFL competition, only the truly great teams can do it, let's see if Brisbane measure up next year. :)

P.S. Congratulations to Brisbane for today, well done. :)

The 1997 PF win by Crows was a game where had Crows lost it they could have felt very disappointed.

Crows kicked (from memory) 0-7 (7 points, including two posters) in the first term and it very nearly cost them the game.

Fortunately, Crows were just dominant enough to win in the end despite poor kicking.

Had they lost, Crows could well and truly have been disgusted at themselves for letting slip a game they should well and truly have won.

There was no way that this game was a fluke win, and equally, no way thaat the result was rigged, or that the eventual winner was undeserving.

Bulldogs fans, get a grip on reality here guys - you were outplayed in virtually every way for the majority of the game. The one and only place where it was even close was on the scoreboard!
