There are so many that have been mentioned above that I love, but I'd like to add George & Mildred.

The Brittas Empire and some show set on a plane, I think it was Scottish, but the name of the show escapes me - anyone? Nova Scotia Airlines I think.

and vague memories from my childhood of " Not the Nine O'Clock News wich if you looked back would read as a who's who of british comedy

Oh nearly forgot there's a show over here called The Office, don't know if you've got it over there.It's a spoof of an office that is having a documentary made about it-it is so funny.Anyone who has ever had the misfortune to work in an office will recognise a lot of what goes on.

Yeah there is no good sitcoms really these days. The Ali G film is out over this side of the world, and although I wasn't expecting much I found it very funny, and it even features a cameo role for Borat (legend!)

Ever seen the one where he goes to a foxhunt? He totally winds these protestors up:

Borat: "In Kazakhstan, we kill animals"
Protestor: "Why? What have they ever done to you?"
Borat:"No, you no understand, we kill for fun, it make us feel like big man..."
(Cue protestors getting enraged)

The Office is f*uckin genius, I absolutely loved it. The funniest thing on nowadays though is Teachers on Channel 4 on Wednesdays check it out Dipper

Mr Bean is very funny. He stayed in my hotel once, but he drilled some holes in the walls to hang pictures up which drove me nuts!! I think Manuel knew about it too.... just wait to I get a hold of him!!
