I was listening to the news last night and it was revealed that Channel Seven wanted to ban all live radio calls on Friday and Saturday nights and they were considering broadcasting live against the gate. At the least, they wanted live radio calls to start no later than half time. No wonder the AFL wants to dump them.

The reason for the contention here is that people are (were?) sick of the poor standard of commentary (Robbo, Sandy, Hawthorn show [Dermie, Piggy and Dipper]) and for live games it is a better option to turn the TV down and switch on the radio.

Instead of blocking radio, it would have been easier to sack the shite commentators!

No way Tiger of Old, Robbo would easily be the worst commentator on Channel 7. I often feel that the only reason Ch 7 brought John Russo in was to explain the rules to dear Robbo - he had no idea.

This got twice as bad when a Carlton game was one. Good riddance!
