I have been watching this guy play a long time now and come to the conclusion that this wannabee enforcer has a serious tackling deficiency.

Sure, he is a ball magnet, but apart from trying to break the lines and frequently getting caught with the ball, he simply cannot lay a tackle.

I wish there was a stat for missed tackles in the AFL, because he would have to top the list.

He is probably the worst defensive midfielder I have ever seen. :( Quite frankly is pisses me off how often I see opponents cut through him like butter.

He refuses to chase and when he does, he simply sticks a arm out like he's hailing a taxi and makes light work for anyone trying to evade him. Ever wonder why oppositions midfields get so many centre clearances against us when he's in the engine room ?

Really McLean should go to tackling school if he wants to play tough. I don't think anyone has ever taught him how to do it.

He's 25th in the league in tackles and second at our club behind McDonald who is always #1. If he's apparently missing so many tackles, that just shows how much of a strong work ethic he does have to lay as many as he does.

He may be slow but I always feel more confident with McLean in the engine.

Seriously, go to bed before you embarrass yourself any more.

This is rather over the top. One thing I will say is that I definitely noticed how slow McLean was in the last quarter against the Tigers. When he chased opponents they were killing him for leg speed and leaving him in their tracks. Given he works his butt off and it was the last quarter it is fair to cut him some slack but he needs to improve in fitness during the next pre-season.

Well considering he averages 6 tackles a game, I would say that he can in fact tackle. Whilst he's not the fastest bloke around, you won't see too many players fend him off when he's in the guts.

yeah ive noticed a few slip through but its not as bad you make out, he gets his fair share. I know what you mean, the ones that get through look bad, lazy even. he's gonna tack up the tackles being in the middle and being the player he is but doesnt look good occasionally. costs us goals to.

Without seeing the stats on this, from my observations most of his tackles are in close. The problem is that he has no leg speed and his reactions are slow - it is very easy for opposition players to run past him and run off him.

since when did 50/12= 6 ??
more like 4 tackles on average.

But I'd take quality over quantity anyday, and I can tell you I haven't seen him lay an effective tackle all year. Watch for yourself and you'll see what I mean.

Can we just ignore this bloke! he is quite clearly and idiot.

And will people get over the fact that mclean is slow, sure heis never going to be super fast player but he gets the ball uses it well and will win the b&f by a mile this year.

what a joke Brock is getting about 5 tackles every game and he is one of the standouts at melbourne this season there losing everygame this bloke cant do any much more than he already is trying his best and is doing great bit of respect for the man
