How far is Docherty and Zorko from playing?

Docherty and Zorko are good chances to play reserves this week.

Injury permitting, Zorko won't take long to break into the seniors.

I think we're going to go for broke this year, Azul.

At this stage I am expecting several more than just three delisting/retirements/trades.
It's going to be brutal, but necessary.

Jeremias if I understand correctly is suggesting 2 live selections + Curnow's and Tuohy's elevations, assuming we don't trade away a valued player to another club for salary cap reasons.

Me? Without bruality, 2 elevations + 3 ND choices. I think we'll probably have 3 live picks under 50; the success rate of picks past 60 is low.

Maybe there's a Laidler to be found or a Duigan to be smokeyed. :D

I'll leave speculation on who we trade out or delist to another thread but clearly there's around half a dozen players whose careers depend on senior gametime.

Can't see us making 5 list changes.

We don't need to use 3 draft selections.

I can. From Andrew McKay's interview a couple of weeks ago, he said we would go heavier into this draft (perhaps the best draft ever).

Tuohy must be elevated.
Curnow will probably be elevated (I think we can keep him as a rookie for one more year, but this would be unlikely).
If we decide to keep Casboult, he must be elevated.

As for Brock, he will play games this year, but he might want a fresh start next year. He certainly has footy left in him. If he was still at Melbourne, he'd be their Captain, and they would be a better side.

Would be a perfect fit for a team like the Gold Coast Suns.
Injury permitting would play week in week out for the next 3 to 4 years.
Would take some of the inside grunt work that GAJ is doing and assist to prolong Ablett's career.
Would help their developing players and assist in protecting them heading to what most consider their window >2014.
Wont even go into what his trade value would be. He seems to be a quality person that has too much ability and value to be playing seconds football.
Similar to the Laidler situation with Geelong.

We need players like Brock on our list.

He is a reason that players such as Lucas, Robinson, Armfield, Curnow and Tuohy must play good games as there is pressure if they don't as they'll drop out of the side.

Brock has not been given a real chance at senior level IMO. He has played 10 games out of 50 and alot of those he started as the sub or was subbed off.

Give him a go!!!

There are two possible answers to this problem. In terms of 2012, we may not need him to win the flag, and therefore in the short term, it might be worth trading him for a live pick at the end of the year. Melbourne or GWS could use him, whether or not they want him I don't know.

In the long term, we need players that give us enough depth to win 2-3 flags. McLean is one of these guys who could slot into the team as an in and under mid and be decent. But he definately requires games.

If we can string some more wins together, I think we can start rotating some of our mids out of the side to bring in our Ellards, McLeans, Josephs and maybe even the rare Buckley against poor teams later in the year.

I wouldn't be surprised if, given the expected showers on Saturday, if Brock wasn't named at the very least an emergency for the game on Saturday. A wet track with his skill set might just be a positive addition to the team.

note: I haven't watched our VFL matches

He wouldn't get a game at any AFL club...

Game passed him by a few years back...

Credit to Melb for getting extreme overs for him... The deal was done before trade week was even started... Fees would have sleep over night at AFL HQ to make sure trade was completed in the first minute of trade week...

They're saying this draft is 2001 quality and very deep. Reckon we might delist a few and trade some more.

I largely agree with Harker's list. I'm not sure why mcinness in particular would be cut - the other draftees from that year (excl duigan) haven't shown anything at senior level either.

O'Keeffe, White, Casboult are probably gone - pretty unlucky due to injuries and Davies would be stiff.

Whether we like it or not the following players must be seriously looked at, come years end:

Senior list: Collins, McInnes, McLean, Bower, Russell, Thornton and White.
Davies and Kerr may also be in the trigger, if given only a one year contract, last year.

Rookie List: Casboult, Bray, Carter, O'Keeffe and Heyne

Possible Retirement: Scotland.

Doubt Bower would go, and if Davies did surely he'd get another chance elsewhere.

Levi should be retained, if possible.

Surely Mclean would want to be on the move if he is only going to be used as a depth player. His next contract will be pitiful compared to his current one.
