Doubt it.

Very good chance imho.

Just lost one of your better players while paying him (again) a lot for a long time - to play elsewhere.

Old list, terrible percentage, won a host of games by a bees dick. Harder draw.

Usual tough for a coach in year 2

Good luck

Are you ever really out of it if you are paying around $300k a season for the next 5+ years? I don’t know what the exact amount is but rumored to be close to it. Pies fans will always say it is the lowest they can etc though.
Media and opposition fans will always go with the highest amount.

He only played the 1st 6 games of the season. We then went on to win most of our games with 2 other ruckman.
Rising star winner, 19 yr old kicked 40 goals. Regularly played with half a dozen 1st or 2nd year players.

Yep, should be well ahead of the aging Tigers who have sold their future for midfielders in a bottom 3 team.

I thought the idea was you paid part salary for a decent pick OR received a crap pick, but cleared the salary?

Collingwood seem to be a bit half-pregnant on this one.

Ripping deal for Dees on face value.

While your own will always play the lowest…..

Somewhere in between is the truth! But honestly at the end of the day you are still paying a fair bit for 2 Gun players play for other teams for a long time yet.

yeah those 6 games Grundy played for us last year really were the difference o_O

Why talk about how bad the Richmond team is in the grundy discussion?

Treloar isn't worth the money injury prone mid who is now playing off half back.

Time will tell with Grundy had best years just before signing the contract and didn't do a stack since.

The contract was awful which is our fault obviously but if we didn't move it this year it's unlikely it gets moved especially at 30 years old.

I agree mate but the question still needs to asked as to what exactly the Pies are paying and for how long to have them both play for other teams.

Then it'd be a win-win. Dees can't really lose here.... and I hate the bastards.
If he breaks down, and they’re paying the last 2-3 years of his contract for him to be on the sidelines, that’s still a win for them?

Not saying it’ll happen, but it’s not a win for the Dees unless he stays fit, and plays out his full 5 years.

Can’t just say it’s a win for them regardless.

Yeah that's fair. It's not a steal if he's off injured for years. If they get 3 or 4 solid years out of him while they're in the window they won't be complaining. Gawn is a bit banged up too and they'll losing nothing if he goes down and Grundy steps in.

Well Treloar is worth what the Dogs are paying him.

Will make it interesting for fantasy/supercoach players - they will steal each others points now
Witts R1 / Value R2 and don’t touch either Gawndy!

It's only a win if Grundy is a Melbourne premiership player.

So the Pies had Witts, traded for nothing so they could keep two time AA and BnF Grundy.

Now they trade Grundy and pay part of his salary so they can keep Darcy Cameron and Mason Cox.

Right now if Dees game style is the 2 Rucks then they have done extremely well to get someone of Grundy skill for unders (pick wise) will he work with Gawn and play out the full contract at a high level we won't know for a while.
