I don’t agree 900k for a ruck is smart, but if he starts contributing more goals and marks then great

at least we aren’t paying hill, McGovern, saad etc 850-900k 😂

I feel like a few of his best games in the last year and a bit have been when paired with Cameron, absolutely no evidence to back this up but it seems like they work well as a tandem.

I don't get the theory of not for a ruck. To me it's all about impact on a game. Grundy is around the ball heaps and when in form his impact on games is enormous.

Haha, my little brother wrote that! Currently studying sports journalism, let's hope for more like him and less like Slobbo

Should a ruck coach be at the MCG or playing in the Sunraysia Football League?

He’s part time, can do as he pleases with his time. If we paid him full time wages, then sure

The article is spot on.
Grundy is busting his arse each week. His ho to advantage stats are great but our mids are letting him down. We just don’t have enough one touch players to support him. The amount of fumbles is not exceptable. Not grundys fault!!
The amount of times Grundy feeds a hitout right down De Goey's throat only for him to bobble it or get tackled is insane!

Yeah, I'm just not seeing it. What I can see is that he is nothing like he was in 2018 and 2019, you can polish it up anyway you like but he is a shadow of the player he was. No amount of gold dust can cover the Grundy we have now compared to the past

Why? He's putting in the same input and by and large getting the same output, it's just now he has a dogshit midfield (and a dogshit team in general) around him rather than a finals team

Cheerleading piece lacking substance IMO, which conveniently leaves out we have the greatest against differential in centre clearances so far in 2021.

How does that stat reflect more on the ruck work than the coaching or the midfield in general?

His ruck game was good but it was the impact up forward that gets me excited. If he keeps it up he’ll almost be worth the money.
And since that game Buckley has not pushed Grundy forward other than the last 5 minutes of the Gold Coast game.

I can't question Grundy's effort or workrate, but his impact on games has declined. I think he does some very dumb things for a seasoned player and he doesn't seem to learn from his mistakes.

I think he does do some dumb things (mainly those short kicks), but I also think to an extent his impact has been coached out. Told not to grab it out of the ruck or punch it away from the stoppage by the coaches, isn't pushed forward often, and has struggled with an ever-changing midfield that is not on the same page as him.
