How does feeling unhappy about your coach prevent you from jumping, marking and palming the ball to the advantage of your team? Any player with an ounce of competitive juice would be driven by personal pride and care for their teammates once they step onto the field of play. The wheels are falling off at Fox Sport.
There is unrest among some key sports editors towards Tom Morris, the journalist himself has every reason to be frustrated at the way he is performing.
Unfortunately for the Fox Sport , their current predicament is entirely predictable as soon as they hired Tom Morris a a sports journalist.
As every week goes by, his position becomes more precarious. Not because he is a failure of a journalist (well... actually it is), but because the baseless nature of his reporting raises questions on whether Fox Sports needs a new voice.
Insiders say Morris is not the journalist he was in 2018 or 2019. That the substantial gains he made after 2017 have been lost amid hub life in 2020 and a rotten start to 2021. This is a shame for Morris, as much as it is for Fox Sports and their readers.
In 2018 and 2019, one of Morris’s greatest strengths was how he fostered an emotional connection with his audience that previously either didn’t exist (unlikely to exist for much longer) or wasn’t as prominent. But by the 2021 season, some readers had grown weary of the emphasis on emotional connection. It has forced Morris to find other triggers to get the best out of his writing, which is no easy feat.
Leaders such as (insert and namedrop an influential fox sport editor) and (insert another one for good measure) have been vocal in their frustrations internally, while (some senior bloke who runs the show) has remained measured and largely distant from grumblings among readers and reporters. This senior bloke has always been an ardent supporter of Morris, even though most readers and fox sport staff were perplexed by Morris' writing.
Like all issues at underperforming journalists, there is more nuance to Fox Sport's issues than Morris and his struggles to connect meaningfully with the public on a consistent basis. He could be forgiven for being out of ideas. Has he lost the hunger? He might deny it, but he would have every right to feel weathered by the events of the last 12 months.

Grundy is worth the money and will become our greatest ever ruck.
Brodie is scared of heights, it`s why he does not jump, give back 2 thirds of your wage , waste of money , such a dumb contract

Slightly off topic but has anyone had a close look at how Yze has got the Demon's midfield structured atm? It's ingenious and its a lot of fun to watch.
He's created small circles or arcs that his mids run in and they don't crossover each others running paths. He's also starting his mids further out from the centre circle at centre bounces so that the Demon's mids can beat their opponents to the drop of the ball (because they're banking on Gawn winning the taps and they know where he will be hitting it....so they've got knowledge of the drop zones AND unrestricted access and exit paths from the contest. Of course they also have speedy, powerful mids that make sure they get first hands on the ball as well.
Another thing they do with Gawn is to "give and go" from a tap. So Gawn first of all wins the tap, then because he doesn't often fall over after a ruck contest, they use him as a give and go option often handballing back to their ruckman before he feeds the ball on to an outlet runner.
It's a small example of how a coach (in this case Yze) can influence a group of players quickly and positively. Compare it to CFC's stifling midfield set up which aims to keep the ball inside the contest until a Pies player can work his way free and you see why our midfield is so constipated. Our Mids coach (Harvey) either doesn't trust his mids to win the ball at contests or is scared of the damage that oppositions can inflict upon us when they win the centre break. It also leads to all of our mids (Grundy included) being hemmed into packs fighting for the ball and inevitably fumbling the chances as they fall over.
Midfield coaching needs to be a huge priority in our NEXT coaching panel.

Grundy appears a decent bloke.
That should be applauded but it's an off field persona that's seeping to much into his on field display IMO.
Honestly he had more edge to his game in his debut season when he used to give away free kicks routinely for rag dolling opponents.
We need our big guys to play like them and Grundy needs to start getting more physical, playing with greater aggression and if that leads to the odd free or fine/suspension so be it.

For those who are uncomfortable with Grundy’s stance on how football fits into his life, consider this interview by 2020 NCAAF Champion QB Trevor Lawrence, who is the presumptive #1 pick in the NFL draft in a fortnight.
Personally I think the “if I don’t win a flag the world will come to an end” stereotype is reductive and unhelpful. It likely contributes to a lot of unnecessary strain on the mental health of athletes. IMHO it is unlikely to actually result in improved performances, over those of players who have a balanced approach to their professional careers.
