Yeah a 2 year deal would've been spot on IMO.With our emerging talent on the wing and half back... really not sure if this is the right move.
Obviously a very good player but he's signed until he is 32. Seems unnecessary. Feel like a 1-2 year deal was more appropriate or let him walk as a FA
Yeah, its probably bang on in that respect. Especially if its front loadedPretty happy.
I reckon 3 is fair. Far better than 5.
Two probably better though. I guess 3 is in the middle of what club and Smithers would want.

If Rory Atkins can get a 5 year deal as a FA I'd have to wonder what the offers were like to Smith. 3 seems the middle ground.Smith is still performing. Would have preferred 2 years but not going to b*tch about 3.
If david mookay can get deals until he’s 32+....If Rory Atkins can get a 5 year deal as a FA I'd have to wonder what the offers were like to Smith. 3 seems the middle ground.
Takes him to around age 32.5 at the end of the deal. If its front loaded then I think its fine, hopefully not on too much in the final 2 years. Sounds like a generous deal. Made a few blunders by foot last year which was unlike him in previous years, hopefully sorts it out.
Pretty sure that policy wouldn't apply for this though. That was for 30 year old's signing extensions. Not 28 year old's signing past their 30th birthdayFeel like we need to go back to no multi year deals past age 30 policy
Gets harder and harder to do that with guys gaining free agency at the 28/29 year old mark.Feel like we need to go back to no multi year deals past age 30 policy
....aaaand here we go. Jesus. With our emerging talent on the wing and half back... really not sure if this is the right move.

So is this going to be the next player who breaks down and ends up collecting a paycheck to either sit on the injury list or play SANFL?
I hope not but frankly this contract is poor list management on display yet again.
