Hey there, I need advice on a how to best care for myself in my second week with a broken L1
vertebrae.
Any advice would be well received as I have to care for myself for the next few weeks, I'm not
looking for sympathy just the best advice to get back to work as quick as possible because I'm a casual
and numerous weeks off are not in the equation.
Best way to get back on my feet would be great, do I require ice, heat, stretches etc?

I cracked on of mine in high school. Went undiagnosed for like 5 years.

I had bad back pain for years but after a year of physio, I was as good as new.

I assume my Crack is not as bad as yours though

Nothing worse than back pain and until u have had it u dont understand

I am 6'4 and have had lower back pain on and off for years...through wear and tear, bad posture, sports and lifting heavy weights

about 5 months a go i started getting sciatica in my right leg and it wouldn't go...i couldnt drive or do anything.. the pain is outrageous.

Some doctors are campaigners they wont give u strong pain killers because of the *ing media because they think everyone is their to abuse them

I saw loads of doctors, chriros, physios and it all did nothing. so eventaully i went and saw a surgeon who is meant to e one of the best..he did tests. MRI's etc etc and said I have herniated discs and nerve compression etc

anyway I have had just had surgery-i had no choice, could not deal with the pain any longer.

I no longer have sciatica but am still in pain from operation site, still cant stand or walk properly. Feel like their is a big lump in my back.

I have lost 15kg and gone fro 6'4 tall and strong to a lanky old weakling

people say being tall is great but i have always hated it..driving, flights, back issues..its fkd

so look after ur backs...use correct posture, if ur tall dont do deadlifts/sqauts etc..its just not worth it.

mate go see a good surgeon and if the pain does not go don't rule out surgery. Im not out of the woods yet but expect to be in a month or 2.

Life is not worth living with chronic back pain.

Agree 100% with this I have had constant back pain for the last 10 odd years coupled with stiffness and inflammation have had multiple x-rays, tests and mri's and was told it was wear and tear from playing sport. One sports Dr actually had the nerve to tell me I had to train harder when I exercised/lifted weights.

Started having other side effects with inflammation in my right eye and joints 18months ago which they put down to arthritis, finally got sick of it and changed doctors, with the new one sending me off to have blood tests and to see a specialist.

Turns out I have are genetic disorder called Anklyosing Spondylitis which causes extreme inflammation in the back, eye's and neck and has caused extensive damaged to my sacroiliac joint. Michael Slater also suffers from the same disorder which ended his cricketing career.

Unfortunately there is currently no cure for it but have been managing it with fortnightly injections to control the inflammation for a couple of months now, and have not felt this good since my early twenties. Still can't push myself too hard but able do enough to keep fit and active which is vital to keep it under control.

If you are having constant back it is vital that you have properly assessed and don't always accept the 1st diagnosis you are given as it may not be the right, always seek a 2nd or 3rd one.

agreed mate, good luck with whatever you do.

I ended up having back surgery...my spine is still healing but I am finally free of pain
