Broken Promise....

When Neil Craig took over the coaching job at the crows he told all of us that he has a responsibility to make his team play attractive football that the members will enjoy watching.

The first 2 years he did that to his credit. Great Defensive and attacking footy.

The last few years we have become one of the most boring sides in the comp. Our first and many times our only thought is a defensive one, our attacking game sucks big time.

Neil has broken his promise.
Something must be done about this.

Play 'attractive' football and end up like Port, Richmond, West Coast etc.

As someone said, it's the game.

And as a side note, I find our game style very attractive. When we get it going it's just brilliant to watch, tactically and skillfully.

The old days of get the ball and kick it 80 metres to your gorilla forward are over.

That's not true. Geelong, Bulldogs, Carlton and others play a good brand of attacking footy. The same can't be said of the Crows.

However I do think we are changing for the better, but must take on the game more, and stop this sideways/ backwards BS.

Perhaps our new breed of faster, younger players will change this boring crap we've been given , if they are allowed.

Would you rather watch Judd, Gibbs, Murphy and Stevens dashing out of centre putting on a plate to Fev, or VB, Knghts ,Shirly,Reilly etc handballing in a circle and then turning it over?

Very simplistic, yes, but we do need to take the game on more and take some risks.

First quarter, we looked good. Attacked down the guts and ran forward. The last 3 quarters we were pretty defensive again. But any win is entertaining, you bet

I think our players mentality is not right. it should be 50-50 on defend and attack.
Our players are 80-20% on defend.

We wont win a premiership if we are not more attacking and more direct quicker.

Exactly my thoughts. Attacked up the middle and ran the ball quickly. Was very entertaining.

Please don't compare us to soccer teams, lets not take dives and celebrate over the top for goals.

I don't think the crow play 'boring' football, FAITH you have obviously been listening to Mike Sheehan too much.

What next ruckmen don't matter but Adelaide suck because they don't have one.

I think you'll find that Man United are the new "Chelsea FC" and Chelsea win attractively (for the most part).

I think we're moving towards the gamestyle you want FAITH, but you have to have the cattle to pull it off.

You mention Geelong, Hawthorn, Bulldogs and to a lesser extent Carlton.

These are all teams with very high levels of skill.

Our youngsters are coming through now and when their skill catches their potential you'll see the game plan you want more and more.

You'd also need Judd, Gibbs & Murphy on your list to achieve that.

I think Craig has tried to play attacking footy whenever he's been able to - but there is only so much you can do when you've got a list stuffed through injuries and full of kids.

when carlton get it right, they look alright, but lets be honest they have beaten a team that quite frankly didn't rock up and other that played 1 qtr of football.

once there is real pressure by good sides that team is going to play very ordinary football because apart from 5-6 players they have a very ordinary team.

It will be interesting to watch them unfold this season, but for mine, I think they look the goods.

Faith, Craig promised to have us playing competitive footy - which we are. He's also won more than he's lost. When we win - we often look good (although granted some wins are ugly but you get that). As others have said - get some game time/experience into our youngsters and we will be playing more and more like round 1 and less like round 2.

Very interesting observation, Being a long term Chelsea supporter “Pre-Roman” era, watching a successful Mourinho side eek out defensive winning results, reminds me a lot of Adelaide.

However to those ill informed, Chelsea under Scolari and now Hiddink play a more attacking Style.

I would have argued they played like Liverpool but recent games they have been exhilarating, while Man United, possible Inter Milan (With Mourinho) play a slower Style.

I think that AFL clubs should look to Soccer to see how to beat a Zone defence.

The contrast in style the first two weeks can be attributed to the opposition.

The Collingwood game was attacking and fairly free flowing. The Saints game was not and we were choked by their defensive pressure.

This week against Freo the free flowing game should be back. I think it is NC's preferred style, but he has the flexibility to change it to suit the opposition. Even if the amount of handball and sideways movement was annoying last week it was effective. We were a tall forward short of stealing that game.

Hiddink's a very, very defensive manager.

You've certainly gone back to a style you played with under Jose, and it's been reasonably effective.
