Miitch Brown had Groin Surgery yesterday and will obviously be out for the season , but is now expected to be right for the start of pre season training !

Difficult game this AFL , Mitch Brown has had his share of injuries and never looked fit during parts of the season .

Good luck to his recovery ,the Eagles now expect him to commence pre season on time after the surgery .... thats if Brown decides to stay and not request a trade !

Season over for hobbled Brown

"Key defender Mitch Brown has become the latest West Coast player to be struck down by the club's injury curse, having groin surgery yesterday as his season came to an abrupt end.

The Eagles initially reported the complaint as a short-term injury after the 21-year-old was left out of their line-up for tonight's clash with Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium, but have since ruled Brown out for their remaining three matches."

Injuries have been terrible for the club for a few years now. Our injury list at the moment is one of the worst in the league.

This!

it's actually a big concern, the past couple of years they have been hit with injuries pretty hard. Worst in the comp i'd say. Should questions be asked of the fitness staff or we just extremely unlucky?

Tends to happen with a young list. We have been hit across the board though.....

Maybe we should cut down on making players run marathons during pre-season. I used to laugh when I heard that Byron Schammer broke the record for fastest beep test in pre season. Maybe get Brown during the off-season specialised coaching from Jakovich or another key backman of great ilk on how to be a CHB.

They actually run alot less than 4 or 5 years ago. the running these days is more game related

I remember a while back the club had a look at the amount of groin injuries we were having and tried to find the cause. I dont think they managed to find anything.

Glass, Hansen, Butler, Cox, Ebert, Masten, Kerr, Brown, Stevens, Waters... all groin problems. Ebert, Masten and Stevens had them before/during draft though i think.

You have to wonder about this don't you.

How much running should a player do prior to the Christmas break?

Kerr's hammie?

Upteenth groin problems.

Maybe we should be hitting the bikes to lower skin folds whilst we go through our off season weights program?

Then start uping the running post Christmas.

Hows about we do some altitude training for a couple of weeks like Collingwood. Head over to New Zealand or South Africa for a couple of weeks.

Something!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh Brown almost forgot.

Well that explains a few things about his form this year.

I've been keen to trade him because he has decent trade value and we could cover his loss. Now with this we would be better off keeping him as his value would have dropped a fair bit.

100 x 60 > 1 x 10k

Most clubs will use interval training on bikes to lower skin folds and weight to lessen the impact of running.

Mebe Larri can confirm this, but they ditched the exercise phys. team a number of years ago at basically the same time your injury run began...
