There's a few smart members who talk common sense, but some of the others....

Porplyzia was pushed into his path. Browne could neither avoid contact nor minimise the impact. He motioned forwards with his shoulder in a split second, most likely as a bracing reaction to protect himself from contact that was unexpected.

Just out of curiousity, did Gia from the bulldogs get weeks for his hit on Kosi a couple of years back that left kosi with a crucked skull? Gia lined Kosi up and knocked him down...Porplyzia was knocked into brownes path and was hit....And before you crows morons jump on here saying browne hit him in the head and caused the damage, that is pure utter rubbish. He never made contact with the head. What caused the real damage was his head hitting the ground..At no point was head high contact made

If Gia got off for his hit I cant see how Browne(who has a clean record?) could get 3 for that. The sport is in real real trouble if he doesnt get off on appeal.

Completely different incidents.

And as for Browne's clean record, I think due to his inexperience it wasn't taken into account. I think a player has to have played a certain number of games before that is factored in.

I was merely highlighting the differences between the Gia/Kozi bump and the Browne/Porpz bump (why do all these incidents involve blokes with hard names to spell?)

FWIW what I believe is that Thorton and Browne were trying to rough up his shoulders a bit and definitely did not intend to hit him high.

This is probably the worst decision made by the MRP this year.

Firstly THorton pushed Porps, Brown just happen to be there and braced himself for unexpected contact.

Channel 10 had an angle on the impact and Porps fell into Brown's shoulder, nothing more nothing less, no motion from Brown to force impact or cause impact.

All the commentators said, the impact was unavoidable and just part of the game.

I think the MRP feel they need to show they are taking action, plus reacting to media and the news that Porps has brain brusing which for mine probably came from hitting the ground.

I thought Heath Ledger played a good Joker, but gee the MRP would win all Oscars!!!

Watch the footage and you'll see they were running, Thorton pushed Porps and he fell into Brown, at no stage did Browne line Porps up as you claim.

You are simply claiming the charge is right cause it was your player that got hit.

you don't have to make a spur-of-the-moment conscious decision to injure someone when you've been having wet dreams about it all week.

let's not get caught up in the last minute shrugs of shoulders and jerks of heads, he was in that position because he chose, very deliberately, to be.

For all the crying "He hit my boy" and "How soft is this game" the MRP can only adjudicate using the rules in place.

So without any bias in reality we can all agree that

a) The hit was high. - There is just no doubt about this, remember, intention does not come into this.

b) There was high to severe impact - Again bruising of the brain, has to mean a large amount of impact. Again, intention cannot be taken into account.

This just leaves the MRP to decide whether it was intentional, reckless, negligent or accidental.

IMHO, depending on the mood of the MRP and the tribunal it could be called at any of the last three.

But as you can see from points a and b under the current rules Browne just cannot walk scott free.

So be angry at the rules, hardly the MRP's fault.

If you were you would have seen Throton and others punching and bumping Porpz shoulders for the whole first two quarters behind plays similar to Brisbane on Riedwvolt a few years back. Nothing illegal about this but certainly shows the instructions and intent were there to rough up Porplyzia when possible.

This is a fair if somewhat immoral tactic.

Thorton, was just doing his job as a defender when the incident in question happened. However Browne left his man who was running into the forward 50 when Adelaide had the ball and would have been able to take an uncostested mark in order to bump Porplyzia.

Now you're telling me that Browne had no intent to test out Porplyzia's shoulder and just simply couldn't be bothered to man up on Mackay who was streaming on his own inside 50?

Wrong, Browne was chasing Mackay and diverged path in order to bump Porplyzia, this is my definition of lining up, but it may not be yours. I suggest you watch the footage again.
