As he is my man, I will put it bluntly - it would seem as though Carlton owed it to AB to trade him last year, they are certainly treating him like crap.
I'm sorry but that is a ridiculous comment. Hadley is in the side and playing better senior football than Bentick ever has.
When there was a midfield vacancy cause Gibbs was injured Bentick came straight in. He's gone straight out now Gibbs is back.
That fact that Bentick is playing good footy in the VFL doesn't mean he's the right choice to play CHF or BP ie where the other vacancies are this week.
As for trading him, where? How many guys not wanted in the Blues midfield over the last 5 years have got a game anywhere on an AFL list?
The fact that guys playing good footy at VFL level can't automatically get a game in the seniors is a good thing. Perhaps we are finally starting to get a sembelance of depth.

BP or tagger. BP might be a bit too much pressure although he does seem very composed. Kicked a goal from the boundary under pressure a few weeks back in the Ants comeback win. He is ridiculously gutsy. The mark last week people are referring to is about the 3rd time I've seen him do that. He is actually very good overhead, and when coupled with his courage and poise is why he is a reasonably natural BP I think. Hasnt been playing there in the twos, for obvious reasons (keep kids in the play).
He isn't a great athlete. Not in Bentick's class, but just not quick or a great endurance runner. So people should be prepared for him to be 'burnt off' a few times tomorrow. This will improve a bit after a few seasons.
the call for russell's head is justified he may be doing his job but I would still prefer to see Armfield in the side... he has equal attributes of russell but his 2nd and 3rd efforts are much better and his courage is ten fold better...
however good luck to brownie, and to Harts... hopefully he can begin to shine for us and final repay the believers and become a genuine CHF for us!
Ok, so Armfield tries hard... Awesome. I love to hear that. But please tell what else has he has done to show that he's ready for a game yet?
Bentick quite simply can't play any position apart from on the ball. With competition for midfield spots how can you justify playing him? Oh thats right, you can't.
Russell can play more roles and is just more versatile.

A nice pisstake, because Bentick can't play anywhere bar on the ball.
Calling AB slow would be putting it nicely.
Russell is quick when he's on the move and one of those AFL players with deceptive speed.
I'd love to see Bentick play on Aaron Davey.
I didn't see Bentick sweep past a defender at top speed after receiving the ball and miss by a bee's dick on the run from 40.

As I said the key attributes that Russell has (such as his speed... struggling here to find others...
) Armfield has, plus he is more couragous and his second and third efforts are much more effective. He can do this "job" that you say that Russell does... And at the end of the day on such a low key stage (ie match against Adelaide at the MCG vs. West Coast at Subi) it would be a good time to blood him...
If you are elluding to his VFL form being not grand, i cant comment on that, haven't seen him play but from the reports doing the rounds on here re: russells performances pre his AFL inclusion in round 2 (or 3?) his performances havn't been too crash hot!

I am talking Armfield up on his NAB cup games. That is as close to AFL level as you are going to get, a lot of players can star at VFL level and not cut it at AFL level. He did well in the NAB cup games and as I said his key attributes are equal or greater than russell... this is what I am trying to point out.
However this was a side point at the time of my post in the thread, get back on topic and bump up the sack russell threads to continue this banter...

I make such claims because I don't rate a player who is an average kick and wasn't good enough to be drafted.
It's a long season, but Jackson should be playing better footy when he was picked in the 2005 rookie draft as a top age player.

AB did not get a great shake at the end of last year
- he was dropped after our 117 pt thrashing by Brisbane in Rnd 16 BUT he did get 25 disposals in that match
- he was back in for our Rnd 18 loss to Collingwood, got 17 disposals but was dropped again
- he got a late call up for Rnd 20 and got 31 disposals
I hope Browney brains them in the back pocket but I am AB's PR man this year and rumour has it he is in for Hadley anyway
