Did you see Morgan come the big hit against the Lions. That's what we need a toughie. Also he wasn't afraid to get amongst those who were doing the pushing and shoving around.

Matthew Robbins too. He grabbed Chris Scott and had a 'how do you do'. Yeh, I liked that. Putting in. Got real courage has Matthew. Its his birthday today too, 28 years old. Happy birthday Matthew.

These guys are racking up the points on the like-em table.

Mentionaing birthdays - Tim Walsh will be 20 on the 14th; Cameron Faulkner will be 21 on the 22nd; Jordon McMahon will be 22 on the 27th; Mitchell Hahn will be 24 on the 10th; Zeno Tzatzaris will be 40 on the 9th; Colin Dell will be 53 on the 25th; Ian Bluey Hamshire will be 57 on the 9th and if Alan Hopkins was still alive he'd be 101 on the 24th.

Morgan and Robbins both added plenty of commitment and toughness to the team which was realised by the playing group during the game where they were praised many times by the boys for hard approach to the game. Robbins put one ripper bump on which forced a direct out of bounds on the full and a resulting goal for us when it was tight. They should both play against North Melbourne.

I've always liked Morgo. If he can provide a contest up forward and crack some heads while Darce is out, then he's worth a spot in the 22. Robbo is certainly in our best 22.

On a down note, just look at our mature recruits from 2003. Koops, Street, and Rawlings played for Werribee and Morgs has just played his first for the year. If we'd kept the picks we would have had picks 6, 19, 20, and 34 running around now. GRRRR!!!!

But go Morgo all the same.

On an even worse note look at all our mature aged recruits from the past 10 years, I think something like 3 have been worthwhile. To be honest I can only think of Paul Hudson but im sure there must be another 2 :(

A fit Mathew Robbins is very good for our side. He can play forward or back, lighning fast and could probably jump over the roof at the TD if he tried. Good to see him back finally getting a run, and being his usual physical self.

Dent, Curley, Glen Coleman, Bernard Toohey.......all gave pretty decent service to the club.......heck Harrison hasn't been a disgrace!

peter street is still young, only about 21 or 2 from memory, plenty of time to develop as a ruckman.

on the robbins and morgan toughness issue and the robbins bump
that's what robbo does, he chases hard. Something guys like johnson and smith don't do unfortunately. Cooney is showing that he will chase hard as well which really pleases me, especially when he's not quite in form or his touch is a bit all over the place, shows he's willing to do the team thing and the defencive stuff that's required. Morgs will be ok for us, he'll be up and down but show a bit from time to time, although i think he should be in defence.

Jose was not only fantastic for us during his playing days but he is also a real asset to the club now as Director of Football and Chairman of Selectors (I think?)

IMO he was the key man for terminating Peter Rhodes services and then convincing Rodney Eade that this list had the potential and a list well worth taking on.

While they weren't good long term...james cook and minton-connel gave us a focal point in 97-98. They weren't great but still kicked a few... I'd still take someone who could kick 50 from full forward for us this year. Hopefully though we develop a youngster who can keep the spot.

Spot on!! Doesn't it seem ironic that the years we made the prelim finals we had a focal point at FF, not some midget, but guys that could take a mark.
The years after could've been a different story if we had had the balls and drafted someone like Sav Rocca all those years ago.

We may win the odd game with our midget forward line, but we ain't gonna win the premiership, so we need a tall with strength to stand up and make FF their own and give us 50-60 goals a year. The question is...who is that person?....

Andrew Wills?

Allen Jakovich?

Seriously though, I liked Nicky Winmar's form when he was playing for us. But he was always a favourite player for me outside the kennel so maybe I was biased.

LOL. Allen Jackovich. He was entertainment and then some.

I thought Richard Osborne was useful for us.
