Jokelow Medal. But I guess we shouldn't expect any different.
Edit: One positive was looking At Eddie's face, his misery brings me joy.

ditto. it was a highlight. i feel sorry for swan, but the bloke i feel most sorry for is andrew swallow... was at least the equal of jobe watson this year.

how can we entrust the brownlow to these idiots when they obviously cant identify one of the leagues premier midfielders?

I think the AFLPA medal has much more credibility these days anyway? The general consensus of who was the year's best player is much closer in the MVP over the years than the Brownlow. Matthews, Carey and Ablett Sr all have MVPs, Kouta won in 2000, McLeod in 2001 etc.

Twiggers actually spoke pretty well. Was suprised when she mentioned how Judd at West Coast was well supporters by kerr cousins and Cox and got blocks at the stoppages by Stenglein and Rowan Jones.

Hats off :eek::thumbsu:

The MVP has totally different criteria and usually goes to the generally recognised best player in one of the top two or three teams and it is influenced by the media as to who is the best. The Brownlow is a match by match analysis and has nothing to do which team has the best season as a West Coast vs Richmond has as many votes as a Geelong vs Collingwood or St Kilda match does. So the winner isn't the player who impressed in the big matches but who impressed consistently ... or in Judd's case who impressed in one quarter of each match.

Swan obviously doesn't have a rapport with the umpires as a son of a tough as nails footballer who is a just an ordinary bloke (he was a lot better on Before the Game the other night than I expected him to be). Judd is a bit of a silver spoon and can probably discuss the intricacies of the bouquet of his favourite Pinot Noir with the umpire at the coin toss. Either that or Demetriou didn't want the Brownlow medallist changing clubs this summer so he got out his liquid paper and changed a few votes so that Gary Ablett didn't win.

Whoever said that deleting the top line of the vote getters makes the poll look better, they hit the nail on the head.

Judd is probably more of a MVP award winner because without him Carlton are terrible making him the most valuable player, probably a few others but he's up there IMO i don't think Swan should have gotten the MVP because Pies would win without him still where as he probably should have gotten the Brownlow, bit stiff but stop bitching about it next thing pies will lose the gf and it'll be the umpires fault aswell just get over it

LOL, how the hell did he not get votes in the Blues and Cats games :eek::eek:

Seriously, wtf! If the umps look for judd and gaz, yet Swan played better than both in those games, and was in the thick it.....wow, just amazing.

It's the age old curse of being a fantastic player in a fantastic team. When you winning, anyone can take the votes easily...

If that's the case, Buckley should have won 5 brownlows, except he wins one when he's an old man in a winning team :p

There needs to be a shift in emphasis from the Brownlow to the AFL MVP award.

That will never happen, as long as it is aired on Foxtel. It needs to be show on Free-to-air.

3 things that i learnt watching the Brownlow

1) Judd speaks as well as any footballer i've ever seen

2) Bec Twigs seems pretty down to earth for a glamour

3) I came to the realisation that seeing Eddie with the shits gives me absolute joy and is one of my favourite things in the world......But he is the sort of character that makes the game more colourful and i'd miss him if he wasn't around

He doesn't usually speak that well, ever watched him on any of those footy shows, he doesn't say much at all and comes across awkward at times.

But tonight, his speech was very very good, I actually enjoyed it.

Same with Twigs, seems down to earth, but also high maintenance.

And why are people bagging Eddie.....the most passionate president, and his face expression was probably shared by almost every football follower bar Carlton supporters!

That's the thing, I've never, ever, ever, ever seen Swan ever talk back to the umps, put his head down, sook or complain, really, never ever!
Actually that's one of the most surprising things about Swan.
Yet he still does not get many BOG's, and no votes, lol......

Don't worry Chris. You will soon get the gist when you hear me and thousands of pies supporters booing your brownlow medal win on your lap before the game. I'll be booing the loudest, you wont get a single clap from me because A) you of all players do not deserve it and should have been rubbed out and B) you were not anywhere near the best player for the year.

This sentiment is shared by plenty more people than just pies supporters.

I am gutted, Swan looked gutted and Collignwood should be gutted and angry. But at the end of the day a GF medallion will make up for everything.

Absolute BS.
You are a pathetic feral loser. Why boo him? It's not his fault!

Just wanted to chime in and say that even though Dane Swan seems like a real w***er he deserved the win, full stop. Judd had a good season but I figured it would have been like Simon Black leading most of the night and then falling away (was it last year or 08? I forget).

Happy that Hayes and Boyd polled well though, great players.

Think it was 08 and 09, I remember Blackie almost pipped Adam Coonie also.

Kinda weird that in 2010 everyone is sympathising with Swan, saying how much he deserved it and how unlucky he was to come third when back in 2008 Ablett had an even more dominant year, was more deserving and more unlucky, but everyone just loved ripping into him for looking disappointed, despite the fact that Swan was just as disappointed in not winning.

Hypocrisy is alive and well at BF - reflective of the extremes in broader society.

Because we all hate Carlton/Judd.

Good article in todays Herald Sun saying how a couple of bars were closed in Crown for some reason. Turned out they were booked by collingwood for celebration party but were never used. Neither was the planned cross on channel 10 later on.

Gotta stop counting those chickens before they hatch Eddie!!!!
